I am having trouble with my ignition and starter motor...

My car has been running fine for the past 2 - 3 months starting first go idiling o.k (only on cold mornings) but i have hit a wall in the past 3 weeks...

It first happened when i drove down to our ovals at skool, i parked the car turned it off FINE. 2 hrs later went to start it up and got a low 'whine' and then just died out, tried again nothing.. Took of -ve terminal cleaned dizzy cap, cheked coil, leads all fine then looked at starter motor and twas fine aswell..Cheked fuses none blown and jsut let it sit there for 1 min. Tried again and it started fine! quite werid
This happend to me about 1 week later, drove for a while stopped parked, turned off, BUT this instance it did start but it would jsut die on me if i didnt rev it and my battery lite was on even when i did rev it. went thru same process as b4 and it worked fine WEIRD!!!
Happend again 1 week later, wouldnt start unless i roll started it to get the start motor moving, drove it home left till next morning and then started first go!! WEIRDDDDDD!!!!

Has happened again today, started fine the smorning, everything fine sounding clean then when my dad came out it just died and i couldnt start it again, we roll started it and it went fine, parked turned off & wouldnt start....ARRG!!!!!

PLEASE could some one tell me what the hell is wrong with my Sunny wagon!! I have suspision it is a bad terminal in the switch FROM the starter to the battery, i know that the starta motor tis fine...
I have recantley just placed a Pioneer head unit and 4 speakers inthe wagon but it has never suffered from this problem until those incidents!!!

I need ASAP, it needs to be running!!!

Thanks tons
Cheers
Dave

Pretty much the same happening to me....
Ive got this clunk-clunk-clunk noise when the car is idling or moving but when clutch pressed goes away....
I suspected that it is the throw over bearing hitting something without the clutch in but soon thought not when i put a new pressure & clutch plate in the thing looks fine & aint hitting anything or non-warped....

When not releasing fully, do you mean not grabbing the gear or does the clutch kind of whine down like a big long ride-of-the-clutch but with the clutch not in??
This was also happeing on my A15 gearbox but with the new plates it seemed to go away...

Anyone care to elaborate?

I suspect the same symptom is haapeining for both of us, i reckon its internal.
Does it still run ok? like change fine?

Cheers
Dave

well one word, bugger.....

I thought that they would be easy to come by but i will take your word as u are a good old tassieonian :P
The major i reason i am after one is the extra gear for long trips and fuel economy...I mean a 4 speed is great for better power response but petrol is so goddamn expensive it twould b great to obtain one....

But as you said there are some other options, but wat are they exactly?/ I ve heard of the 5 speeds out of old toyotas used and i think a mazda 5 speed can be adapted easy?>?

Howdy guys
Just wondering what model sunny did the 5 speed gearbox come out in? was it later than 1980's and was it the van, coupe, wagon or sedan? And also if i were to obtain one would it bolt straight onto my A15 which is in a sunny wagon (only has 4 speed)
What other mods would i require? re fabricating stuff?

And another thing does anyone have a set of 2" extractors to suit a A15 ? and this sunny 5 speed gearbox?

Cheers

A mate of mine has a HZ holden ute and that has a 2 barrel stromberg on it, im prettyy sure that this is factory standard but i could be wrong...
Not sure what model stromberg but the butterfly valves are really weird shaped and the 1st & 2nd chambers are smaller than my hitachi!!

Care to elaborate?

Found this out off a bloke from the tip!!

If you think youve got all types of #### floating round your engine coolant system or radiator, get a thickly densed sock (prefrebly cotton [wooven]) and shove her over the top ( & bottom?? ) hose to collect all the dodge stuff in there!! Easy!
When satisfied all #### gone take it off or even leave it on there!!!

*It doesnt cause any heating probs just MITE run abouit 5deg hotter..

Howdy!
Just need some advice on what boot struts would be good for my sunny wagon, mine are shagged to bits and need a replacement.. Would commonwhore or van struts be alrite? (i need some extra support as there are Kenwood 6 X 9's on the boot!!)

I would have to re engineer the ball housings but would any other strut fold up the correct way/size/pressure??

Any advice greatly apprectiated !!!

Cheers

Lets start basic here!!!
Firstly, Re-carpet, fit my stereo, get boot struts, weber 32/36 and bog up rust (all in 2 weeks with skool as well :S)

NOW, the holidays component!!

(these are the things im doing after my BIG exams at the end of this yr; Gr11!)

Reco A15, mild cam, crow rods, head work, balanced n lightneed flywheel, H180 diff ( i think.,...)not sure if twin carbies yet, see what the money situation is lik AND still thinkning!

So the VG20t is kinda a 'wish list' atm !!!

But atm i do have the stereo (kenwood n pioneer), good springs/shocks (monroe lowriders) and will invest in flufy dice!!!!

Cheers
