Yeah but...

The problem is of knowing that the car you have purchased will be sought after in years to come (body shape, engine, chasssis etc.)

And another thing

Most people I know all think that ALL Datsuns no matter what type, hp readings, look are all a bunch of s|-|it and that the money thrown into them is a complete waste of time...

THIS REALY PISSES ME OFF

What they DONT understand or see is that the local dickhead with the lowered common whore with 17" incredible chromies on them with a pod and a crappy stereo is COOL to most of the public... But when say a fully restored 1600, sunny, 200b, 180b, 1200, 1000 coupe (i could go on :P), drives past which looks great they think it should be spending the rest of its life where it should be , in a paddock or wreckers...

I almost cry everytime people tell me this!!
But the point of no return is when you KNOW that you have to sell your prise posesion to pay for other expenses, projects etc when you know you put in so much time and effort for what? For some other person to tamper with your hard earned work...

Sorry for having a bitch about one-minded dickheads i have to put up with!!

Does anyone know the model no. for a 1980 B310 Sunny S/w Hitachi A15 carby? I cannot read mine as its worn away on the side...
Also my float level is about .5mm above center, is this worth worrying about or is this acceptable for daily driving? And my car blows a considerable amount of grey/black smoke when i rev it above about 2500rpm, this is normally carb induced right? I have checked the carb trouble-shooting page but could not find anyway to quickly identify why it blows soo much smoke. Is this the mixture to rich and coz the cars burning to much oil??
Any info would be greatly used and would stop people from telling me to get rid of Datsun 'bombs' how dare they!!

Cheers

Right!!
I will go try this now!! I mean as they say you cant tell a book by its cover so i spose this goes with cars aswell, the radiator looks fine (with a few snaps in the bars) but of course as you say it could be internal...
Tommy, are you still having overheating problems with your car even tho your radiator, head and water are all fine??

My god this post has gone on longer than expected and had more response than i once thought!! Cheers guys!! Its good to know that the 'oldies' do help out the new Datsun owners/fans!!

Thanks
Dave

Right....
Have got it back from the guys at the shop and still no go
They said that my bottom radiator hose wasnt tight enough around the seals so they tightend them and that my water pump is ok from a physical and looking perspective but they didnt have time to rip off the front and FULLY inspect it...
The cavities seem to be ok to them and are not blocked with random things...
The only other thing they did mention is that maybe it would be an idea to get another radiator and give that a professional fan or obtain a good new/2nd hand which works well!!

Well driving it home from work this evening it started to heat up again and do the EXACT same thing, graduially heat up as time got along.....
I am really getting shat off about this and will go to the wreakers and radiator place tommorow to get quotes or get it done strait away....
Any other thoughts would be very handy, advice on what i should do or things/problems that people have had realating to this topic would go down a treat

Thanx again
Dave

Right ill update my problem...
Have taken it too a mechanic today as i do not have time to fix it myself this week do to skool and i need it going!!
I suspect it is my water pumps blades have disinergrated into oblivion so the coolant isnt flowing around the block/cavities.
I have new 'flexi' hoses on my radiator and they are perfectly fine and is not ####e around them....
The radiator core or the pipes running threw mite be blocked but i doubt it and plus even if they were, ive had a shagged radiator on my A15 and it didnt heat up as quickly as what this problem does...
I will post a reply tonite when i get the verdict from the blokes at Cripps Auto

Thanks for the help guys
Dave

Yes It cools down incredibly slightly but still does
No bends in pipe..
Radiator is flowing ok before i put it in i flushed it out with a high pressure hose and it was fine...
Doesnt heat on short runs just when i get to about 70 odd k it creeeeeps up on me!
And yes my radiator levels go up under revs, im pretty sure its got the right PSI under neath the cap but i have givein it a compression test...

Any thoughts??
I reckon its circulation or blocked up ####ee lines around block......

I duno wat is wrong, i have cheked thermostat not too good but i took it off to see if that would cool it down, and guess wat yup u guessed right its still friggen hot!
The only thing i can think of now is that my new (2nd hand) radiator is shaggeed or my cars filled up with alot of ####e..
and my superstsious thinking of a blown head gasket is no longer as the bubbles are just 'lil iddibiity ones that only happen when i crank her up from the hoses most likley...

I reallllllllllllly need some answers...
