Hey Matty,

Are you running a chipped standard ECU?

Kev's been talking to me about chipping up my ECU.
I'm thinking this must change the ignition / fuel mapping & I'm also told it increases the rev limit to 8200 rpm.

I'm just wondering what benefit's the aftermarket chip gives & if there's a noticable increase in power.

i.e; If I'm currently reaching peak power with the std ECU @ 6500 - 7000 rpm & there's no great increase in power with the new chip (just an increased rev limit) then I don't see much benefit.

Your thoughts?

Anyone else running the chipped ECU - What sort of power increase / change did you get?

Well, it's been 3 years of blood (mine), sweat (mine) & tears (my wife's) but at approx. 11am this morning my CA18 / 1200 ute was legally registered.

More or less on budget (approx. 12K).

Waaaaaaaaaaay over time - I originally forecast 6 weeks (that was before getting carried away with paint & panel though).

I've kept all my receipts & plan someday to post all the details including costs of the conversion.

Special thanks go to Kev Rowley.
The man is a gentleman & a scholar. The advice he's provided me with has saved me coutless hours & $$$....... I would have had to spend a lot of time at the school of trial & error otherwise.

Thanks to Cable_tie, OAN_878, Tappet, pager & Datto7 for the bits & pieces.
And everyone else that helped with advice & opinions over the past 3 years.

Most of all though I have to thank my wife for the understanding that allowed me to sink large amounts & money & time into a car (ute) that wasn't even driveable.

Happy days .

QPDC guys.... I"ll see you at the next meet.

Good timing for this thread.....

I insured my ute yesterday with Shannons.
Mod's: CA18DET, 180SX front brakes, R31 diff, R31 fuel tank, Seats.

Limited use quote (3 day per week) - $424.32

Daily driver quote - $541.56

Agreed value of $15K.

It must be said though that I'm in the over 30's category.

It's currently anchored at luggage point.
About 2 kms up the road from where I work.
Went & had a squizz yesterday.... Impressive bit of gear.

To get there, just get on Kingsford Smith Drive & keep driving towards Moreton Bay 'till the road starts to turn crappy + follow the signs to luggage point.

Feel a bit sorry for the sailors though.... Luggage point is where they pump the $hit out!!

I must admit, it's got me thinking.

How does it transfer to street use though?
I wonder how long a battery charge would last & if it'd be comparable to a tank of fuel.
What charge points could you use etc etc.

The Nissan front racing springs p/no 54010-H1070 should be used. These competition units have a spring rate of 110lbs, and lower car approx 2 inches.

So what springs are these part no: 54010-H1070?
Stanza springs?
