Oh, you must be a forestry worker then......
But seriously.... Is there anything in my comment that suggests that Taswegans are all hippies? What I said was a) That my brother lives there & b) That he has a lot of mates of like-minded persuasion.
It's a fact that hippies tend to congregate in Tasmania for various reasons, but I'd hardly expect them to frequent a car enthusiasts web site.
Sounds to me like you get pi$$ed off pretty easily!

Yeah - My brother's a Hippie down in Tasmania & Him & all his mates jump around, play drums & do the fire twirling. Suffice to say, he hasn't had any hair on his arms for years now.

Silvia / 180sx brakes on the standard struts are a decent upgrade..... Worked well for me anyway.
You should try the search bar on the left-hand side of the screen for past forums on this - There's been heaps of discussion on this subject.

Hey vex66 - I'd just like to say 'Nice Work' on getting your daughter a real car for her first. I see too many teenagers driving around in these plastic fantastic's. It's nice to see that someone can appreciate a classic.

Seeing as the only way you can really travel continuously around the world is by boat...... I'm going for a 40 ft catarmaran with all the motorised fandangle sail hoisting, trim setting etc..... Ahhh one day!

The advice you are getting is correct. Look at it this way...... If you rebuild your engine to have a 10:1 compression (on atmospheric pressure at your intake), then increasing the pressure of the intake by as much as 10 - 12psi will raise your compression to the extent where your engine starts working like a diesel, otherwise known as Pinging!
You can maybe look at an alternative piston choice - maybe something with a hole machined in the crown. Or like you said, a thicker head gasket. Placing an extra washer behing your spark-plugs can slightly recuce compression too.
