I can do the 8 spoke 13 x 7 RS Watanabes for $600 for the four.
They are a very light, period Japanese wheel if you are interested in that sort of look.

I dont get this staying true to type mentality.

Once you have decided to remove the A series donk and put something else in its place you are creating a bastard.(and this is not ment to be a judgement just a statement of fact)

You arn't making it any more a datsun by using a CA18 over a 4AGE or a rotary, none of these are datsun 1200 engines.

Use the engine you want or that would be easiest to get, cheapest,or most suitable.

If you think its still somehow a "Datsun" engine because it has Nissan on the rocker cover you are just kidding yourself.

I dont think you should be too dirty with the guy you bought the engine off.

I have had a few rotarys and had a few "rebuilt", unless it is from the factory(or you pay big bucks to a very reputable builder yourself, who will stand behind his product) These things can and will self destruct with annoying regularity.

The guy you got it from may indeed have paid to get it "rebuilt" and it went fine for him and he thought it was a top engine.

I have never seen a rotary that hasnt been thrashed to within an inch of its life, you may have given it a bit of this treatment yourself, I know I always did.

They are are real lottery, some go great, some blow a seal, some score the housing, or maybe just stuff up.

All the parts are only available from mazda and are expensive so builders cut corners to stay competitive and keep the prices down.

As a wise man on this site once said "you pays your money and you takes your chances"

My sympathy goes out to you, after wasting $10,000 I came back to piston engines because I couldnt afford it any longer.

my Kb10 had severe axle tramp, if you booted it it was undriveable, it now has a thick extra leaf on top of the other springs that only goes from the axle forward and stops the tramp really well.

Just what are you doing?

If you sell the wagon you wont have a Datsun, and I dont need to spell out to you what that means.

I should have seen the writing on the wall when you tried to sell the 5 speed.

Whatever has caught your eye its not worth it, dont go to the dark side.

Well yeah, the 1600 wagon is pretty easy to see.

The other ones arn't my cup of tea but the defining features are all there.
