They are perfectly fine with an A12 engine in front of them, but if you put say a worked A15 in front of it and revved the guts out of it and dropped the clutch all the time it would break.
I have a standard diff in mine with a worked A15 and it has never given a problem, it depends how you want to drive it.
If you want to drag cars off at the lights try installing a 1200 ute diff.
If you look up the tech section to the left of this column, you will find other options.

Hey Man, like 5 spacers and 8 to 10 cm studs is going to put you in the cemetary.

This is definatly not the way to go to achieve what you want.
You need to get different offset wheels, I have 205 x13s on the front of mine no spacers no sweat.

Or look at getting an engineering shop to make you some bolt up spacers, where studs are built into the spacer.
If you look up wheel adaptors on Ebay there are often guys selling exactly that sort of thing.

About 18 months ago I saw an ad in the trading post for an injection set up to fit an A12, I rang the guy and it was a set up off a bike.
I think he had it on some sort of race car and he said it worked well.
As it had been on a 1200cc and mine is bored out to 1600cc I thought it was too small for my application.

Go ahead I dont think it is a stupid idea at all.

It is expensive , but if you paid for all that work yourself it would cost you a lot more.
It comes down to ,if that is how you would like your coupe to end up,this is a good deal.
If its not what your dream car is going to look like then its not the car for you.

Just to clarify I think four HSRs would be better than twin webers.
If it was a choice of two unknown bike carbs or a single sidedraught weber or twin Hitachi's ,I would get whatever was most easily and cheaply obtainable, as they would all perform the task adequately.

I didnt think bikes had downdraughts either.
I only know about the variable venturi SU type.
But yes I think two would be as good as a single sidedraught weber.
