Just a few questions:

How many km's has it done?
And does it come with the Tailshaft yoke?

Cheers

See the problem that I have in North Queensland here is that most people are charging similar amounts to get A series motors as they are for CA style motors... I mean, $1250 to rebuild my stock standard A12, no performance mods or anything, just a basic rebuild (And they said the would need to 'research' the A series engine cause non of them knew anything about it). And around $1500 for an A15 motor non rebuilt with no warranty.. Where as they quote me $1800 to get a complete Silvia front cut...

It doesnt leave me with many options, my current A12 is on the way out and I need to get something done within the next 2 or so months... And any parts through the internet need to be frieghted, and my level of mechanical skill is minimal. I had these exact same problems with my R31 skyline..

I got quotes put together for a rebuilt A14 ready for a supercharger to go into my 1200 coupe, and quotes to get a CA18DET conversion (or possibly an SR20DET)... So far the CA18DET is the cheaper option... Far cheaper option. This is possibly cause in North Queensland no one will work on the A series engines so I have to get things done by Nispares or Datrats.
But all in all, I know I will probably go for the newer engine, get the same horsepower, and save over $1000...

So what sort of gains can be expected from working with an A12 engine? Im looking for quick acceleration not top speed...

Im intending on doing work to my A12, complete rebuild and head work, then supercharge it. But Im not after a drag machine or anything.
I decided to do this simply cause then I know everything that has been done to the engine, where as if I got an A15 (Which seems hard to do in Townsville) I would still go through with a rebuild etc... so basically I just end up spending more money, although I still havent worked out how big a difference it would be...

This probably hasnt helped you at all..

LOL! I live out at West End... I used to own a 120y a few years ago, but had to get rid of it after it got smashed. Ever since then I always wanted a Datsun coupe of some description. Then I move out to West End, and the guy next door had this white 1200 coupe, he was fixing a few things on it, and then a week later he had it for sale.. It was fate I tells ya. I got it for $1000, with 3 months rego, so I am happy

I got a 73 1200 coupe, it is ####ty white atm, but I wanna slowly clean it up. Cut out rust, I am thinking of paiinting it Matt Black, and getting all the chrome bits polished. I am probably going to work on my A12 get it all nice and sturdy, and do a light supercharger job... But being broke is slowing me down...
