yep been down this road. Hydrogen is way too explosive and dangerous as fuel for a car unless in a sealed hydrogen fuel cell and they have been round for many years. They also are very dangerous BTW just asked the crew of Apollo 1. Anyway the cell you made was a simple stage 1 electrolisis cell to spearate hydrogen anf oxygen. The power to separate the hydrogen is more than the power it makes and is therefore useless as a fuel source. There have been reports of these cells becoming a stage 2 and 3 cell emitting a little known substance called orgone which was a sub atomic particle discovered by Tesla (a russian Scientist?). Anyway this orgone given off by the cell is supposed to fuel the car. Now this intrugues me as alot of hippies have gottn a hold of this and they cry consiparcy theory when someone gets one to supposedly work, they all go underground claiming the oil companies want to kill them etc etc. Anyway i think that if they are serious they would come out in the open, but I believe its probably a hoax. The are many internet pages around and its called a Joe cell, named after a guy called Joe in Coffs Harbour NSW (who incidentally has also gone into hiding). Apparently he had the first working model on a car after his grandfather passed on the story to him from the army, where appraently they used them on tanks in WW2 to greatly extend the range and power. Look we would all love the magic silver bullet and i would especiallt love to the see the arab fuel consortiums get smashed by a simple renewable or free fuel, so I can drive my datsun and internal combustion engine in peace. But I believe it will come from some battery technology rather than hydrogen. its just plain too dangerous (remeber the biggest bomb ever exploded was a 59megaton hydrogen device the Russians set off where the fireball alone was the radius of London). I dont like the stuff. Oh by the way this is supposed to work with implosion not explosion with timing advanced by 70 degrees!!
its easy going back to my formula ford days where i learnt this:- Jack all four wheels of the car off the ground. Have a helper apply the brakes for you. Get them to gently apply the brakes whilst you spin the front wheel by hand. Keep applying brakes until the wheel just lock (ie you can no longer turn the wheel by hand anymore). Check the other front wheel has got the same pressure. If you can turn it your caplier needs attention. right if thats ok then go to the rear wheels. On a normal road car, braking is around 80% front and 20% to the rear. So the rear wheels should turn. The percentage bias depends greatly on the suspension setup on the car, the softer the setup the less bias to the rear, conversely the harder the setup go to the rear more in the dry. On an open wheeler in the dry we try and get it 55% front 45% rear (in the wet we set up 45% front 55% rear!!). so in a race car (tin top) which has alot more weight transfer over the front, youd want around 65% front 35% rear. You can feel this with spinning the rear wheel. Get you helper to adjust the bias controller accordingly. Anyway thats how we do it. A much more accurate way is to have gauges setup in your brakes lines. When you get it on the road you will have to fine tune for your driving style.
Hi DD yes Ian / Teretonga has the parts to ship. I have been sending them there to save all the hassle of freighting each item from the supplier. Also most suppliers on ebay wont ship to AUS hence the collection I have there.
hey guys I know there are a few people on here who are involved with freight companies. I was wondering Ive got some boat stuff coming from the USA (Waynesville North Carolina to be precise) and need it shipped to Sydney AUS. Just wondering if anyone had some contacts I can use to do this at a reasonable rate. All the boat stuff is used and dimensions of the carton will be 1000mm x 800 mm x 600mm high estimated weight around 40kg incl carton. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hey Ian trying to finish the house to rent and then move up the coast. I have another toy ...a boat but will always have a datsun ...Id love a neat clean road car. As far as racing I love my open wheelers and will so be doing khanacrosses with my daughter in a corolla.
