I have had 2 engines done in the past 1st was my GX with rings pistions (1st oversize)bearings,cam reground,welch plugs all seals,oil pump checked,full gasket kit,complete head job and manifold faced and a new timing chain,cost was 900 bucks cash.
second was a std a12 had rings bearings all gaskets and seals head fully recoed I cant remember if he did the timing chain but was a nice tight motor when started and ran like a dream cost was 500 bucks cash.
All I can recommend is shop around to all the engine shops and have a full list of what you want and dont just go to the big well known shops but the smaller guys ( as I did) do a good job.

the piece of wire is definately not datsun and in all the datsuns I have owned I have never seen a nut like that one

Hi mate I have a fully rebuilt starter for the a series motor it has not been used so is in top condition.
Price I am chasing is 90 bucks plus postage

Hi mate I know waht you are chasing, A mate made one for me.
firsty buy the correct gasket and use that as a template and any machine shop could knock one up.
Next option is to visit the wreckers and see what they have got
