I have managed to buy from the Nissan dealers in Brisbane most of the small parts for my resto if you ask for a 85 ute they will track down the bits you want and if it is trim items the only difference between the ute and early models is the colour, As a rule Repco and the like only supply mechanical parts that are non genuine.
If you want the genuine part numbers let me know as I have a set of microfische.

hi sling, the reason the parts guy has asked you is that he has a choice of what to supply.
he is working from a book, if you are using an aftermarket supplier his general knowledge on a large variety of cars would be good and if you are going genuine the parts guy should know your car better than you do !! how do I know ? I have done genuine Honda parts for 18 years and if this helps 74 Civic front pads are the same

Hi also picked up a model car at the Brissy motor show the brand is Doyusha.
it is a Sunny coupe GX the kit number is nh-24-1200.
I would try all the local hobby shops and see how you go

Hi Dat16, it is quite straight forward, you will need a torch, philips head scredriver and maybe a pair of pliers.
1 push and twist off the h/light and wiper knobs and remover the alloy retaining nut.
2 undo the speedo cable
3 remove steering wheel(it get's in the way)
4 get in the most uncomfortable position you can think of and try and find the 2 screws at the bottom of the guages after about ten minutes crack the ####s and have a beer.
5 after removing the screws try and work out why the hell it will not come out and then remove the ciggy lighter.
6 have another beer and pull the facia from the top and it will (hopefully) pull out without to much trouble
and no I am not trying to be a smartasse
this is what I did the first time I tried it !!
good luck
