just having a surf and I came across your question, the utes were definatley avalable in Oz until 85 as I have owned two of them and everything you have said is correct.
The engines in the later models 80 onwards I(Ithink) did definatley have the 120y style engine so a14/15 will drop straight in

Hi, all our coupes in Australia were fully imported from Japan and were deluxe trim and you could order a factory fitted 5 speed
they all came std with a tacho, carpet, heater etc.I was lucky a few years back to by the last new option clock for a coupe.
In my 2 door sedan that I am restoring I will be using a tacho dash from a coupe and also a clock from a late ute both of these are interchangeable and with some minor modifications you can fit a clock/tacho in the coupe console

Landrover used the bushtucker man in there adds and one of his quotes wa if you want to get you will need a LandRover believe me if you want to get back you will need a tilt tray, nothing personal to each there own I would never buy one simply from my experience working at a Landrover dealerhip

You guys are an absolute cack, Hi all I have not laughed so hard in years.
I have done British parts and japanese parts for many years and believe me if you want tears by a british car even the "new" model landrovers are based on a design ripped off from the ww2 jeep and fifty odd years later still can not get it right.
My dad and uncle sold 1200's when they were new and 30 odd years later still reckon they were fantastic little cars and I have owned about ten over the years and the scope of improvements from the original design are endless.
And the crocodile hunter lives about an hour north of me and most Auzzies think he is a wanker and definately not a true auzzie bloke and when he get's his head bitten of most of us will say thank christ
All the best
