Try a new sender but it could also be a gauge problem. Go to a good auto parts store & buy a capilary temp gauge or it could also be called a mechanical temp gauge & put that in. You can get them for about 30 - 40 bucks. Those types of gauge generaly read accurate

hook up a capilary temp gauge or put a thermometer it the radiator that will soon tell you what is happening.

There is a guy in vic called Phill Soderstrum. He is the power glide king of australia. He can manualise any valve body you want. But if you manualise the valve body you will get harsh shifts. You will have to ring TCE there a torque convertor company & ask them how to get on to him. 03 9879 8455. they send converetors all over australia so a valve body wont be a drama. You DONT have to pull the auto out to do the job but to do it properly you should reco the trans aswell. I think you will get more out of a manual gear box & more fun and cheaper. But theres nothing wrong with being differant. good luck if you have any dramas PM me P.S I think phills a bit of a grump as he probably should be retired but drag racers wont let him. He is the best in the buisness.

You will need to remove the modualtor & block off the govenor circuit. There is also mods to do in the valve body. leave it to the pros. Because you now have a minifold tube per cylinder you can only take vacume from 1 cylinder so thats probably not enough. if you can some how get vacume from all cylinders it might make a differance. Thats the only logical explanation i can think of. Something i did on a turbo 400 in a ferari once was put a restrictor in the vacume hose because it was getting too much vacume. There is heaps of other things it could be if you want any help PM me.

Check the flow out of the water pump by filling up a 1 litre bottle. An engine rebuilder will give you the exact procudure on how to & how long it should take to pump a litre. It will also tell you if the water is cavitating
