I fitted an A14 from a B310 into my F10 wagon. See it at www.ratdat.com. Look in the "what's new" section... it's listed there or go to the Technical section. I need to add a
few things though like the top A10 stabalisers aren't strong enough for an A14 and neither is the A10 clutch (you need a F10 120A or N10 Cherry clutch) It also has 15 inch
Saab Turbo wheels now to improve the gearing. I will eventually fit a 5 speed from an N10 which also have a higher diff ratio. The next stage will be a brake upgrade.

Yeah, it looks to have come from the factory with it, it's Datto bolt pattern. The car was actually built at Rosslyn in South Africa so maybe they used locally sourced parts. I'll try
to get a picture of it.
I haven't found out any more about that motor. I have one pic of a bizarre looking one, which is possibly of that type of engine...looks to be dry sumped and have some strange
mechanical FI. I'd love to see some pictures if you get that engine, just to see how it's engineered.

My buddy has found a South African built 1200 sedan which has a totally different axle to our UK spec cars. It has a removable diff cover on the rear just like an old Ford axle. Is this
a Salisbury unit? If so I'm asuming I can get different ratios and probably an LSD for it. If so what fits and is it any good...like, for performance use?
Secondly my SA built ute has a different axle again, unlike either the UK sedan or my friends SA built sedan. Where can I source an LSD to fit this one..is this the tough axle that a
200SX diff is rumoured to fit?
I can't get any specs on these cars as obviously both were built in SA and utes were never actually sold here at all.

Cheers,
Eddie

Do you get the VW Golf and Polo G40 models in NZ? They have a neat little supercharger (called a G-lader) and the cars are old enough now to be fairly cheap. The VW motor is
only 1272cc and puts out 113bhp and 110 lb/ft in stock form. There is some info at http://www.netdev.demon.co.uk/G40/history.html. Might be a usefull unit for an A12 or A14.

Praise be for seatbelts. I just got back from collecting my girlfriend
from
hospital... thankfully she's alright. She lost control of my Datsun
100A at
about 60-65mph trying to avoid some drunk asshole on a bicycle (who
had no
lights in the dark) spun the car 180 degrees, across the road then a
3/4
roll into a four foot ditch...the car came to rest on it's side. Thank
god
for the strength of Datsuns...she walked away without any major
injuries
(more than can be said for the car) I hate to think if he hadn't had
her
belt on.

Sad to lose one of my collection but very happy to still have my
girlfriend

The Renault 5 and 11 turbo's both use the same blow through setup using a downdraught type carb that is similar to a stock A series in size. They also have intercoolers as standard. This
should be by far the cheapest turbo setup possible on an A series as you can use everything from the Renault. The only fabrication is making an exhaust manifold and adapting the A series
intake to fit the Renault carb. Even the intercooler is a decent size and due to the layout in the Renault you get nice long pipes to cut down and modify. I'll take some pics of the car I
have as I take all the turbo gear off and post them.
I know the easy route to power is an SR or FJ, that's why my 510 is getting an FJ20DET intalled at the moment, but I like the idea of a Turbo A series...especially as I can drop an A14
straight into my ute with no fabrication at all. Here in the UK you cannot get FJ turbo (I got lucky with an imported Gazelle for my 510 one) and a CA18det of SR20det can cost around

Surely buying some threaded tubes with proper alloy perch and lock ring would be cheaper? I just did this conversion on my Silvia struts and the adjustable perches were

This was mentioned on the Bluebirds list recently. It's 83-84 Golf GTI inserts apparently. I havent tried this trick myself so I can't garantee it. I'm fitting struts from an S12 Silvia
to my 510 and they are nearly 2 inches shorter than stock struts but you have to add more negative camber to make up for the different leg to spindle angle. The have 10.75 inch vented
disks. (Min 14 inch rims needed) I will be trying these on my 1200 2door sedan too as they are pretty easy to get here.

I'm going to be turboing an A14 soon. I'm using the complete turbo setup from a Renault 5 GT-Turbo which uses a blow thru carb design. I have to fabricate an exhaust manifold and adapt
the A series intake to fit the Renault carb. This should be a relatively straight forward job because there is no complicated EFI to install and the Renault engine is also a pushrod
1400cc of very similar design so the fueling should be okay. The little renault engines can be pushed over 230hp but I'm not expecting that kind of output from an A14...I'd be happy
with 140-150hp @ the flywheel. The stock compression is 8.5:1 so I could theoretically leave it as is but I'd prefer to drop it a bit. Hopefully some combustion chamber work will
achieve this.
The great thing is that the Renault setup (also fitted to Renault 11's) is so cheap. I bought the whole car for

The '79-82 210 in the US is actually a B310, which was sold as a Sunny or 120Y (140Y or 150Y depending on engine size) in the UK. The 210 is the replacement model for the B210 in the
US as it was everywhere else but I suppose they called it a 210 to keep it related to the previous model. The designation "B310" ie the chassis code for this model.
The B310 is based on the B210 so most parts are swappable, although the rear axle is wider so won't fit.(although the differential will)

That's probably no clearer at all

Eddie
www.ratdat.com

Just to confuse things further Nissan USA decided to name the N10 a "310" !!
