Well...I've had time to cool down now after hearing about your plans to widen your kb10 body!

I'm still of the opinion that the original setup is brilliant, simple and easy to maintain. However, if your dead-set on widening it, then good luck to you. I've never heard of the vanette front suspension swap. What section is wider? Is it then the arms, the cross member or both. The spring must be. Nowing datsun, they probably used many shared components!

The panel work shouldn't add too much I guess. The diff, motor and gearbox will add a quite a bit though. If your doing any sort of hill climb or circuit work then a steel cage will be needed.

Hi. I've got the option to buy a 5-speed split case 5-speeder out of a Toyota T18. I'm no wizz on the toyota stuff and was hoping someone might tell me if this box will suit a datto conversion. I don't know the ratio's, the weight or mounting details. If I buy this will probably fab my own bellhousing, so the dellow kit won't be required. Thanks for any info !!!!

Nope. The cam and tappets are in the block. So doesn't matter whether you shave the head or the block. Just put the reground cam and tappets (or new tappets) in the block as per normal. The tappet adjusting screws will need to be set after you reassemble the engine and that will account for all the changes you have made.

Shaving the head and decking the block have different effects on the engine. Firstly if you shave the head then that doesn't make the piston come any closer to the head. But if you deck the block 1mm, the piston will come 1mm closer to the head. If there is less that 1mm of gap - you guessed it - they will collide.

Apart from that, 1mm off the block will raise the compression more than 1mm off the head because of the reduced cross sectional area of the combustion chamber.

So, if your just trying to raise the compression a little, its normally done by shaving the head. It also involves less work too! Should have a look at the valves and guides while its all apart. That might save a weekend next year!

What fuel do you plan to use?

Hmmm.. I'm not sure you're qualified to own a KB10!

Why do you want to butcher it?? 15" mags will look like clown shoes on it! Further to this, the 4 spot nissan brake you want to put on it are suited to a RB25 turbo'd 1500kg+ car. Your KB10 weighs in around 700kg ish. Ok, maybe 850kg after the meat works. Why not use Dattoman's KB10 brake upgrade kit and put some 13's or 14's on it ???

B120DAT! They're nice looking headers. Can you give us a clue for the price you paid and where from!

well, do you want to sell it to me ??
PM me a price and condition (stuffed or still ok). It would be handy to get some rocker gear too as my good spare head (which will be the final ported head) has none.

Hi all. I'm after at least one round port head. I want to try my skills and head porting and don't want to start on a good oval port head.

Anyone got one kicking around ?? I live in newcastle (near sydney).
