This is a timely question for me as I just returned from Florida (back to good ol' oz). I've always had the impression that root beer is what we call ginger beer (both being non-alcoholic and ginger being a root and all). But this is NOT the case!!!

I have sampled a mouthful of root beer and that was all I could stomach of the stuff. Let me put things into perspective for you all. I've got a sweet tooth and tend have an affliction for all things sugary. But this root beer is something else. Let me TRY to describe it for all those interested.

Its like getting pure toffee and hard boiled candy and melting in down. Then tripple the ammount of sugar. Then use concentrated artificial sweetner to try to increase the sweetness of the solution. Finally, somehow find a way to give it the consistancy and fizz of lemonade. Put that in a bottle and you have root beer.

Well I''m in Fort Myers Florida at the moment and I'll be in South Africa next week. Has anyone got any advice for me for finding some nice cheap datsun parts. I'd love a 5-speed !!!! I reckon I could probably carry it one the plane too once I ditch all my luggage !!

Theres have a collapsable column in this thing <---

Don't think its a difficult job. Don't know if its a straight bolt-on affair either. I was planning on doing the same mod to my road kb10.

Yep, I'd be interested in knowing exactly what parts you have and pics please. Bonnet and bootlid (if dattoman_1000 doesn't buy it), seat and/or runners, interior light, chassis parts, guards, bumpers, etc.

I'd wouldn't ming this auto box if its not expensive. You're only around the corner from where I live. PM me your phone no or address and a time to see it.

Are you by chance the person with the white 1200 coupe purchased recently from Heddon Greta ??

Daniel.

Not interested in buying the block, but I am interested to know what brand/model pistons they are. I've never come across them.
ACL list a basic size for 4G32 as 76.9mm with oversizes of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5mm available. They look to be dished as well. Is that right ??

Dattoman_1000: I can help you with your piston dimensions. Thats no problem at all! We can make the compression whatever you like. You will need to run through this process no matter what piston or manufacturer you choose. Would you like me to help you here ?? If so, I'll send you some instructions to collect the relevant information, then run you though the maths.

This Wiseco option sounds real cheap at $550 per set. Does that include rings or wrist pin PJZ ??? The problem with this option is it may not be suit your motor dattoman, especially seeing as its a domed piston and you had high compression with your UC pistons. We would need the all the figures for this piston too see. Its definately worth an email I reckon !!! Ask them a price for custom pistons too !!

Apart from that, I've never been a fan of domed pistons. I may be proven wrong, but I think the combustion chamber works better with flat tops or with a small dish.

If custom pistons are the go, then I'm positive a good piston design is achievable to work with any A15 motor. A14's and A12's will need something different altogether.
