Guys, do your datsun engine's breath alot of smoke or oil depending on how hard you rev it? Because mine does. And my engine doesn't show any signs of smoke from the exause, except some black smoke(To rich) when reving it up to 7800. And in that case can i blame it on blow by ?

Thanks

oookay........ Problem was the oil feed in the cylinderhead was closed. RockerArm ceased because of the lack of oil and kept pusing the velves down and the piston came up and hit it . Head cracked on the 3rd chamber, piston got beaten up badly.

Took the head in for some welding, skimmed the piston and fitted new velves. Started up fine... BUT the bottom back breather , breathes smoke and alot. Took it for a spin and no smoke come's out of the exuase. but when I rev it up to 7000 + it smokes up the whole cabin .

Now I went and talked to a few people and they said I should close up the breather and that it is normal for the motor ? Any comments? i'm so disgusted with this project.

Thanks

In that case it must have been a velve that was "faulty" bought the head second hand and i gues you never really know what you get. i was revving about 7500 when the velve said cheerz .

Well all is Standard on the gx head with it's double springs, so 8000 won't do any harm ?

Guys just wondered...

A finally got a A12GX head, flowed, ported and shimmed
Weber dcoe 40's with matched ports from to intakes to head. Lightend flywheel and 300 deg cam shaft.

All was put on with huge success, but this morning a dropped a velve and wondered what was the maximum you could rev with standard sub assembly?

Ah okay so the oil coming from the head won't damage the gasket.. Great thanx

1200GXman i just talked to a guy who wants to help me and he says it bolts rite on, just use plugs to block the water ports and get a set of 40's

Well it has been mentioned before a Rowlands intake would work :) and they are in cpt. Then a Surge tank to give fuel evenly to the draughts and linkage and a 4 to 1 branch.

Haha well it starts ... takes awhile to get to work properly though. but i get this white smoke from my exhause if it idle's... to lean, to rich ? :( can't be my rings or mechanical because with my 36 36 it idle's clean.

oke it depends on what you did to the engine, if you want real power put side draughts on it. They aren't so expensive to come by. Got my set of 40's for R600. But i'm tired of strugling with a 36/36 dcd 7. the 32/36 is alot easier to get to work. But the power difference ... eish.
