Hey 1200, just wanted to tell you to be damn careful when you are dirving your beast. Hate to lose a fellow datsun enthusiast because he went head on with a tractor trailer...lol. Oh, on the idler arm bushing that 310 was talking about, my coupe did the same thing. It would clunk very loudly when going over bumps too. The bushing kit only cost about 7 dollars, and was very easy to replace. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while you look at the steering linkage. Good luck.

I agree with dd mareo. My car had the same symptoms. I changed the water pump, thermo, flushed the system a thousand times to no avail. The radiator actually flow tested ok, but was so old that it just didn't have the heat exchange rate that it should. You may remember me talking about it. see "radiator upgrade" in main forum. The b210 radiator is awesome, fits perfectly with no mods other than strapping the top down. You can even use the factory shroud off of the 210. Good luck and hope this helps.

Hey datsunman, I had a similiar problem a couple of weeks ago. ddgonzal really helped me out. Go to page 3 of the main forum(bottom of screen) and it's under the topic called "stupid question" He gave me a very detailed explanation on how to adjust the carb. As for the timing mark, I'll go out and look at mine. Is your engine an A-12?

wuzzup amshaw, it sounds to me like this locksmith doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Pardon my language... Any locksmith worth their salt would be able to code two locks together. It sucks that you are stuck so far out in the bush. I really don't know what to tell you. I guess you could remove the tumblers from the ignition switch so that it would start even with a screwdriver, then just lock your car all the time. That would kinda suck though. Sorry bro, wish I had more info for ya.

well, ideally I would tighten the screw and check it, but I understand you've probably got it pretty torn apart. You can probably tell if someone has messed with it while you were gone. If they aren't charging you too much for the box, I would take it home and play with it. Worse case scenario you'll have a rebuildable core. Good luck bro, let us know how it works out.

yes 1200, I believe all the bolts have the same thread size. I wish I could remember who gave me this info. Anyway, they told me that putting the bolt in the correct location would help to prevent blown head gaskets in the future. I believe it is skinnier to let oil flow past it, if I'm not mistaken. You know, now that I think of it, I believe it was dimlight65 that helped me out. Good luck.

Hey 1200, what I would do is try the bigger bearing puller first, then, if no luck, get a pickle fork.(you know those big two prong wedge things they use to separate tie-rod ends and ball joints) That usually works every time, but if not, get a torch and heat up the metal around the pin. Get it red hot, then try the pickle fork again. If that doesn't work, then the steering box is pretty much a permanent part of the car...lol. Good luck and hope this helps.
P.S. you probably already did, but don't forget to check the play in the new box before removal

hey ang, yep, sounds you installed it the exact same way I did. It actually looks pretty good in there too. well, about as good as a rad can look anyway...lol. I haven't got around to putting an electric fan in yet, but I will soon. That's a good idea to put a "on" light in the dash. Of course, the more lights and switches I have on my dash, the happier I am...lol. By the way, where is Castro Valley?

Hey mario, sorry to hear about the head gasket. Luckily for us, these cars are pretty damn simple to work on. I just did a head gasket on my A-12 about 2 weeks ago, so thought I would share some stuff. Somebody here told me(can't remember who, sorry) Don't forget that one of the head bolts is different from the rest. It's the one on the distributor side in the center of the engine. It's a tad bit skinnier than the rest. It must go back in the same hole. Allows oil to flow past it or something...I don't know if you have done a head gasket on an A-12 before, but it's very simple. It took longer for me to clean the gasket surfaces than to do the actual R&R. Good luck.
