Hi the kerb weight of the Datsun Sunny (round and square headlight models)
is 835kg for the sedans and 900kg for the sunny wagons.
I have got this from a book from the library which is explains and lists how to identify each datsun model and includes specs.
Very useful info. when identifying each model.
How far off were you?
Anyway hope it was useful.

Hi I would just like to know how rare are the VB210 120y panelvans in Australia?
As I went along to a local wreckers here in Tassie to find out how much and if they had any front bumpers to suit a 120y.
As I was walking through the car graveyard, I came across not 1 but 2 120y panelvans, which were in very average condition.
Anyway just thought I would ask, as I am pretty sure these are a rare find in the land down under.
Also does anyone know what diff ratio these vans had in them?
Anyway hope to here back from you all.
Bye for now.

The most common grade of oil that most older cars use is 20w 50 grade oil.
Thats what I run in my 120y.
About the air filter number, just go along to any spare parts store ie Repco, Autobarn, Burson Auto parts and just explain what you need and they will have all the part numbers listed and what model/year of your car and away you go.

Hope I was of some help, bye for now.

hi dave.
I have had the same problem with my green 120y coupe.
As it doesn't get used all that often, I went to start it to go for a weekend cruise and it wound over for a short period, before it made a clickety clack clack clack sound.
So I thought it may of been the starter motor, so I changed the whole starter over for another one that I had as a spare, but it still did the same thing.
So the other thing I thought it could of been was, that the battery was flat and didn't have enough power in it to crank the motor over.
Sure enough it was as I charged up the battery and away she fired, with no clackety clack sound.
So therefore I bought a new battery for it as it was a few years old and getting run down.
So make sure you have a fully charged battery in it.
Hope this helps you out, bye for now.

Hi all how are you.
Today looks an average sort of a day, but I maybe in the green coupe, if it looks like the rains going to hold off untill later today, it could be a possibility.
Anyway I will be there at around 12pm.
Hope to see you all and it would be great to see if any new members turn up, if there are any?
(12pm Inveresk railyards, behind the Exibition building)
One of my mates maybe bringing down his white 1200 work ute.
It's a bit average, but it's still a Datsun
Seeyou all shortly.

hi tom
yes I do have another 120y coupe.
It's a 1978 model A12 and it came from down south.
It was for sale in a car yard here in launnie, as I was just going down town one day and I saw this 120y front sticking out of the car yard, and I thought it was just a sedan, but the closer I got, I saw the sporty lines of the coupe, in front of my eyes
It's the worst of the 3 as there is some rust patches in the bottom of the rear guards, and the front bumper has been hit at some stage throughout it's life.
But it goes really well and has quite a bit of power. I am pretty certain the head has been worked.
Also it came with 13inch mags, which makes it sit up a bit like a four wheel drive, as it hasn't been lowered.
The only reason I bought it was because it has a good rear end.
Anyway I have no plans for doing it up, as it's just been a run around car over the past few months.
Anyway hope to see you at Inveresk today, and by looking at the weather I will most likely be in my white coupe again.
Seeyou around 12pm.

hi wombat
Thanks for letting me know, I was fairly sure it was going to be at the same place, but I just had to make sure.
And yes I am also praying for a fine day, so that I can show you all the green one.
But lately everyday has been wet up here in launie.
But the weather guy's say that it should be fine for the weekend though.
according to the paper.
Otherwise I should be in the white one again.
Can't wait for sunday as it has been a while since we have all met up together.
Seeyou all then, and keep your ears open just in case you hear a worked A12 with a 2inch sports exhaust roaring down towards you.
GO THE DATTO!

hi, I bought a datsun 120y workshop manual from Burson Auto Parts.
It covers all about the A12 motor.
But even maybe ask around for sunny or 1200 workshop manuals as these use A12 motors.
But I know that they are getting rare to source, but I am pretty sure that the 120y manuals are still available.
Even check on ebay as sometimes these manuals pop up occasionally.
Hope this is what you were wanting to know. Bye for now.
