Got my engine back from the builders today.
Won't be able to put it in for a couple of weeks though. Can't wait to get it in and tuned.

List of Mods

CA18DET
Forged Rods - Spool ARP 2000 bolts
Forged ACL pistons + 0.020"
ACL race gasket kit
Block Cleaned, decked, honed
Gates racing timing belt
Head reconditioned
ARP Head stud kit
Port and polish (mild)
Port matched manifolds (intake and exhaust)
Variable intake butterflies removed
ACL multi layer head gasket
All rotating assembly balanced
550cc injectors
GT2876R turbo

For warranty the engine builder wants an 8k readline which is fine by me.

Will keep you posted with the results when installed and tuned.

Ok time to eat a bit of humble pie for me, I don't like to give out bad info and should have looked closer before typing.
Dattodude and Daveman are partially correct it is not the injector dropping resister.
So, what is it you ask?
What you have there is an A/T harness. It is a dropping resister for the A/T Shift solenoid B and Line pressure Solenoid.
If you are running a manual transmission than, as Dattodude said, you don't need it.

Its definitly the dropping resister
Daveman you are maybe thinking of the Power Transister unit.
I'm lead to believe the Dropping resister reduces the voltage to the injectors as the injectors are directly connected to the 12V power supply. The Dropping resister should read 6 Ohms across each of the 4 outputs according to the manual.
Hope that helps.

Mate,
Ive heard of guys using copper but i wouldn't plus i think it is illegal in some states, not too sure though.
You can buy Bundy tubing from Repco, Autopro and those places. If you want to go upmarket then use Aluminium or Stainless tubing. Bundy and Al are easy to bend, Stainless is a bit harder though (But looks great in a show car).

Hi all,
After doing a compression test on my CA18DET and finding 2 cylinders around 70psi with the other 2 around 160psi.
Its time to rebuild the engine.

Can anyone recommend an Engine builder/machinist in the Ipswitch/ South West Brisbane area. At this stage im after Bore/Hone/Deck and possibly some head work done.

Cheers

Its not from the Workshop manual its part of the IPB (intergrated Parts Breakdown).
These numbers would be the ones nissan uses to order spare parts with.

It's the best diagram ive found to explain the vacumm system for the 8 port JDM heads.

My understanding is that by default the ports are open, these close when the engine is not making boost (ie Vacumm from the manifold). Therefore as long as you have pluged the lines and run a vacumm line to the Fuel pressure regulator you won't notice high RPM power loss but theoretically you will loose torque at low load/RPM.

Mate it's one of lines used for the polution gear and 8 port head control system.
see diagram. Most people remove the system in total.

I'm bringing my new (old girl) out for the cruise and another run at the Drags. Hope to get into the 13's this time out. Bumped the boost up to 14psi now.

First cruise for me so am getting excited already. See you guys tomorrow at Yatala.

Bryan

Trent,
did you want me to bring the VG30 Turbo along?
