While watching the program, Horsepower TV on the US station, Speedvision. They did a feature story on Import dragracing. This is unusual because this program is produced by Hot Rod
Magazine which is dominated by American built cars. The great thing I noticed were 3 or 4, Datsun 1200 drag cars doing battle with others. The story was shot in South Florida, was
anyone in the Yahoo, 1200 club at the event? It was great to see these 17-20 year old cars (though modified) holding their own against much newer vehicles.

The easiest way to fix you odometer is to replace the speedo head with a used one. I have a spare if you're interested. You might want to look in your area first. A speedo repair shop may
be able to fix yours. Removing the speedo does require pulling the instrument cluster, but it isn't that difficult. If I remember correctly a phillips screw driver should do for most of the
job.

There must be some kind of idle up solenoid that isn't engaging when the a/c comes on. Usually it is switch with a plunger that pushes against the throttle linkage when battery voltage
is supplied to it. It will be somewhere @ the base of the carb. (I have the Canadian factory repair manual & it lists no a/c info). If you find that it has an electric controll, have
someone turn the a/c switch in the car on & off (key on & engine not running). @ the same time check for battery voltage @ the switch on the carb. You should get power @ this circuit
whenever the a/c compressor clutch has power.
If you find that there is no electric controll then there must be some kind of vacuum diaphragm that increases the idle.(though I doubt it).
Simply cranking up the idle will cause other drivability problems such as running on.(dieseling)& poor gas mileage.
I hope my ramblings give you some ideas, the above ideas are off the top of my head, so I hope they fit the system on your car.
You didn't mention weather the a/c works @ all, if it doesn't work @ all maybe the compressor is siezed.
Good luck sorting out your 1200, What model is it?

Bob in California was telling me that early Toyota MR2 rear strut inserts fit in the stock 1200 strut tube with some mods. Hi Bob if you see this note maybe you could
post more info.

What year is the B310? The '79 to '81 B310 is called a "Datsun 210" in North America. They are RWD. I have an '81 'B310' RWD 5spd in my 1200. The rear trans. mount had to
be changed. I actually used a rear mount off an auto model & reversed it fora good fit. I also needed the auto driveshaft, which was the correct length.
Hope this helps.

Hi Andrew, am sending my '73 coupe by air freight from Canada, Please install the A14 & Toy. trans plus give it a respray while you're @ it. We'll work out the details later.
Would you rather have US, Canadian, or Australian $$$. hehehe.
(Just kidding) Good luck selling your engine etc.
(If only I lived a little closer.)

Did the painter put a rag in the air cleaner inlet, to keep the dust out? Has the car been sitting for a long time? If so maybe the fuel has gone bad. Is the tank almost empty?
You may be sucking crap from the bottom. Check the fuel filter. My dad gave me a good bit of advice once, if something doesn't work at all, there's usually a simple solution. Think
Air- fuel- spark.
Good luck, Dave in Calgary, Canada.

Daniel, the cheapest way to get into 13" rims is to look for Toyota Corolla rear-wheel-drive rims. Any RWD Corrolla 1983 & older had 13" rims with a decent offset for a '1200', & the
correct bolt pattern. The hub centre is slightly larger but carefull wheel nut torque usually avoids any shimmy problems. The plain models had 5" wide rims but sport models had 5 1/2" wide.
I have 13x5.5" Corolla 'SR5'(North American Model) rims on my 1200 with 175/70/13 tires. 165/70/13's are actually a great size for nimble handling if you haven't upped the horse power yet.
Wide tires can sometimes end up controlling the car, rather than you the driver being in controll.
Good luck with your search, you'll probably get a pleasant suprise when looking at tire size choices in 13" over 12". (if you want to get green with envy, look at a British tire catalogue,
they probably have more 13" sizes available than anywhere in the world).

To add to the chin spoiler or airdam idea. Do you have the fan shroud installed? (My old Montero had the same problem untill I replaced the missing fan shroud)Is it a direct
drive fan bolted directly to the W-pump? If so maybe an electric fan conversion might work if you haven't already tried it. Make sure your antifreeze is a 50/50 mix, I'll bet you
don't need the -45deg.C protection, but a mix like that also raises the boiling temp of the coolant, which may help you.
You could also try a higher pressure rad cap. Go from 0.9 bar to 1.1 bar(14psi to 18psi Approx) This will also increase the boiling point of your system.
Good luck.
