Good rear bumpers for a Sunny. I can look in the shed, but they all seem to have little bends. Does yours have the plastic ends or metal ones? It'd also have the cut out to go over the number plate, too. I don't think a Stanza one would fit. AS I siad, will have a look for you.

It looks as if the locating bolt that the spring perch sits on might be too small or not there. This is the bolt that holds the spring pack together, & the diff housing should sit on top of it. If you don't get it on, the diff will slid backwards & forwards with each application of brake or accelorator.

Touch wood (taps his head) Maybe mine was at the end of it's life. What do you think about a vinyl roof. Supposedly an aerodynamic advantage from the dimpled surface, like a golf ball. extra speed, extra camoflage.
Any more events at Mt Cotton before the end of the year?
Maybe you could bring it down for Bathurst Speed Week. They'd probably want you to fit a restrictor plate.

Harry, would a normal length 71 series 5 speed fit without cutting the tunnel? I know the rubber the gearstick comes through is on a plate, I wonder if the longer box would fit & you'd just have to make a new plate from some flat metal, with a smaller rubber from a 1200. This would avoid the inevitable broken 63a gearbox that'll happen shortly after you 'lock' the diff. I broke the mainshaft of one of these with a stock L18, so with a turbo L20B it's a matter of time. Was the Bluebird an auto or manual? An auto 120Y would be even more of a sleeper.

Echo the sentiment. Congratulations Simon! is this the car making them restrict what you can do to early model turbos? Must be sweet to win against the V8 powered cars, & being an A12 , it's still under 2 litre. Reminds me of when they put the Turbo Bluebirds in the outright classes in group C. Punching way above your weight. Again, well done, don't put them chocolates too close to the turbo or they'll melt

Do you have the idle solenoid connected. It's a magnetic pin which cuts fuel flow to the idle circuit when there's no power. It's a hexagonal shaped bit between the carby & the rocker cover. Give it 12 volts from an ignition source & it should go 'click' when the power is turned off. All the later A series carby's have them.

The Datsun 1600 Station Wagen used leaf springs & a solid axle H190. Maybe I forgot to say station wagon. The difference between the S110 Gazelle diffs & the C20 Vanette diffs is the size of the axles, with the s110 being much bigger & 29 spline. The difference is so much that the s110 axles wont fit into the Vanette housing, being too large a diameter, plus the spider gear is wrong.
They both have 4 studs & are 4x114.3.

That diff has a snowflakes chance of surviving behind your Mitsi Motor. Andrew Dennis (ca18det_man) used a Mitsubishi diff in his 1200, I think it was from a Sigma Scorpion. you could probably find his old build story. Or you could do a Hilux diff, or a Gazelle H190 with modern offset wheels. That photo of the sill with the paper poking out reminds me of my first 1200 coupe, that had both sills made of newspaper & body putty. I got some new sills made from gal in a thicker guage & replaced them. Made the car much nicer (& safer) to drive.

I might have what you need, it's from an A14 4 speed, got both the front & back half of the gearbox case, the transmission blew the connection between the input shaft & the main shaft & wrecked both, so have been canibalising it for parts, like shifter castings. So, next up, where do you live? I'm in Sydney, in between Parrramatta & Blacktown.
By looking back at a past message, I see your in the US. Hopefully you've got what you needed from somebody closer to home.

I've got one of D's H190 LSD's on order, if the bank transfer ever clears. I'm putting it into an S12 Gazelle housing, with a 4.1 ratio from a series 3 bluebird wagon. The difference between the Vanette H190 & the Gazelle H190 is the axle size, with the Gazelle ones being bigger & 29 spline. I think the Gazelle & the Vanette diffs are the same width drum to drum, but mine is going into a Sunny. I don't think they would fit under the back of a 1200 ute.
Maybe you could find the H190 rear end from a Datsun 1600, which might fit under the ute rear end with front wheel drive offset wheels, OR flares. I'm sure on of D's centres could be fitted.
