Be careful in your thinking. I'm 6ft tall & have a similar problem. I found that lowering the seat can make it worse as the lower you go, the closer you are to the pedals. Maybe you could do a dummy run by taking the runners off the seat & sitting it back on the floor (don't drive it this way, please)
What about motorbike parts? They make some excellent side mirrors & petrol caps. Maybe some of their gauges? I was told by a mate who is an engineer by trade that they put a motorbike engine & gearbox in a Mazda 1000 ute & ran chain drive. It got me thinking. Apparently they even got it approved as their was no rule saying you must have reverse. They all forgot about that.
What sort of power do you reckon you get out of a streetable A12? I have a Honda Accord Euro which makes 140kw, but of course its a lot heavier. I would like my datto to at least be as quick to 60kph.
I picked up the following info from an earlier thread:
"the best way to get a late model 4 speed auto is to get the jatco auto out of a r31 pintara,& use the bell housing from an a series auto.the autos are all jatco's,& the auto originally in my sunny is huge"
I think the Vl Commodore/Skyline Jatco 4spd is not really electronic. I heard somewhere that the only electronic component was to engage 4th. Given that the Datto uses a Jatco & companies don't like to spend money making new parts if they don't have to, I would compare your 3spd to the 4spd & see how hard it would be. Imported nissans used jatcos & I think you would get a box pretty cheap. You could also ask an auto expert. Let us know if you have any success as I might fit one to my daughters car.
That sounds great. I'm not going to race it & I'm not after huge horsepower but a 1500 with some decent carbs & a 5spd should get up & boogie. I've already got discs & it stops really well. I think they might be stanza because the track seems to be wider than my daughter's 1200.
