Did the tranny stop leaking for a short time before leaking again? If so then make sure your vent on the tranny isn't plugged off, or change the oil in the tranny to see if there is any metal in the oil, cause the metal particles can cause dammage to the seal.

the best way is to pull them down and check them for excess freeplay in the bearings, and to see if they are pitted any.

Well age and heat has alot to do with it too. heat can make the o-ring hard and brittle over a period of time.

The E-15/E16 will bolt straight up to the A-14 tranny. One bolt will not line up but easy to adjustto fit.As for the starter, all you have to do is use the A-14 starter.I did this in a 79 b-210 but I cut a hole for the dizzy. What exactly did you do about the dizzy. Crank sensor?

What about a turbo off a pulsar, Iv'e thought about that for my A14 but haven't researched it yet? One that was bolted to E-15.
