My Ute motor went out with a bang yesterday :( I was just driving at 50km (no thrashing), heard a bit of a tap then a clunk clunk! I took the rocker cover off after been towed home, this is the damage: the exhaust valve on the no 4 cylinder is where it all happened. The valve spring is in two pieces, the top of the valve stem is smashed off and most of the push rods a bent. Has this kind of damage happened to any one else? Just wondering if the valve springs are meant to break that easy?

Thanks

I've found the problem or how to fix it, The motor runs fine when you use a full 12V on the coil. Any Idea why this might be? could i be using the wrong spark plugs? The ute runs so much better too!

I'm currently having a little problem with my ute which is a "Miss or splutter" at about 6500 to 7000rpm. I have cleaned out the carbs, changed the points but it is still there. I am starting to wonder if it could be the coil or spark plugs or the float level?? I'm pretty sure its getting enough fuel as it is runing an electric fuel pump and holley regulator. Im just wanting a few ideas before I go start wasting money on parts i don't need.
Thanks

Im using a kelford F54 Cam.
specs:
Cam lift:
Inlet - 336"
Exhaust - 336"

Duration:
Inlet - 242
Exhaust - 242
The rev range is 5500-8500, could go as high as 9500rpm if the head was done well. This cam is ok in town traffic, a bit boggy down low but worth it!

After 3 days of solid work I finally finish rebuilding my a15. I got it all fired up today, went for the first drive and noticed my clutch is slipping big time! Under load, the clutch just spins. A friend on mine talked about putting washes between the pressure plate and the flywheel to fix the problem? The clutch is the one of my old a12 and work fine. I
