heylo guys,
i have a b310 a12 manual 5 speed that comes with no tachometer. since a few of the warning lights are gone like the low fuel and choke lights, a malfunctioning analog clock, and spoilt trip meter reseter, i might consider to change to a used b310 meter with digital quartz clock and tachometer.

i have a few doubts about this conversion and i hope it can be cleared out. is this conversion going to be a straightforward procedure eg. plug and play? will the tachometer or other gauges will be ablel to measure the correct amount/speed after the change and function properly? and what kind of shop should i go to for this work to be done? car electrical wiring shop or normal mechanic?

by the way, im from malaysia and it would be a pleasure if theres any forummers from malaysia that could answer me on where should i get the job done.ive found out that alot of b310s here comes with tachometer and digital clock but not mine..apparantly mine was from the early 1980's batch and is rather lacking in some accesories like rear door open/close sensor/switch too..only front doors has this feature. when the rear door is open or not closed properly, the warning light doesnt come out..i found out that it has no sensor/switch at the body of the car at all, its patched with some black rubber unlike the front doors where theres a switch

thanks in advance for your replies

how to see if its dragging? my car is abit underpowered especially during the pickup....another thing is my brakes seems to lock up pretty easily too...when driving alone and when i jammed the pedal suddenly..but not at a very high pressure. where at that point i dont think it will lock in other cars that ive driven.

btw, got another question..isit possible for me to install the original tachometer that comes with the later b310's? mine doesnt come with it and the even the analogue clock is spoilt..thinking of getting the b310 meters with digital clock and tacho. i wonder if after installed, will all the gauges will work fine and accurate?

thanks guys for all your advice..will take note of all that. well im from malaysia and in the west side of malaysia theres the north south expressway which .connecting all the states and to neighbouring countries like singapore and thailand. its around a thousand km in total i assume, from north to south.

might be impossible to travel all the way but if can travel to neigbouring states is enough.as malaysia is of tropical climate, so to travel around the airconditioning system needs to be switched on all the time to make sure that the cabin is comfy and not to stuffy.

according to some people, i should avoid switching on the airconditioning when travelling long distance.since the A12 only comes with only 1 cooling fan, it would be too stressful for the engine because the engine cooling system has to share it with the airconditioning system.is it right?

besides that, i've also found out that the rims (OEM steel 12') get unusually hot especially the rear after driving lets say around 50-100 kilometers at one time. i wonder what causes that.

i was wondering how far can our datsuns go in a single trip...500kms non stop? i have a 1980 A12 B310 and is in good condition..everything is stock and has clocked 380000kms. overhauled once and is running great in streets.regularly maintained. never seen motorway and highways before but goin is goin to see them soon...if its possible

what should/shouldnt i do/check/keep in mind if i want my 25 year old car to travel long distance on straight long highways? or i better not drive it for long distance at all?

thanks in advance for all ur opinions and replies.
