Hi just a quick note to let you know that the images from the recent Qld Performance Datsun Club cruise are now up here - just go to the 'Gallery' page and its first on the list. There were a few 1200's there - a FJ20ET ute, a CA18DET ute and a 1000 coupe - I have uploaded these pics to the photo album if anyone is interested under 'mechanical'.

There was a reasonable turnout but I was hoping to see more 1200's! If you own one and would like to be involved in the club please drop me an email at charlie200681@bigpond.com and I will add you to the list - we are in the process of starting a proper registered club which will be great - organised track days etc!

Enjoy the pics!

Wow that's a great buy converted!! I'm jealous!

Ok so maybe 2200 is a bit too much for what it is? Especially with the less than perfect paint ... maybe if I offer him 1500 as is, or 1800 with a roadworthy and rego?

Does that sound more reasonable?

Oh and before when I asked about the parcel shelf I actually meant the board that goes behind the back seats to divide the boot and the cabin (the place where people usually mount speakers etc) - not the shelf under the glovebox. This car doesn't have one and I was wondering if that was normal?

Cars are heaps cheaper in NZ though aren't they? Would it still be pricey taking that into account?

[BTW I was born in Dunedin - shhh don't tell anyone ;)]

Please read and post your opinions!! :D

I have found a 1200 coupe for sale that looks really good, went and checked it out today and took some piccies which I have posted here - click for pics

Its very much stock standard, the only thing changed are the wheels (to 13" hotwires). The body is very good and relatively rust free, except for the area under the number plate at the back, and small bit on the rear guard and a little along the back under the bumper (see pics). The paint has seen better days!

Engine is original but has been rebuilt recently and runs and drives very well. All suspension, brakes and driveline looks to be in good condition. Interior is great, hoodliner intact and it has the original manual and jack. Electrics ALL work (even the interior light!) and wiring is neat and tidy.

The guy is asking AU$2200 unregistered.

What I want to know is is it worth the money he's asking?

Also, do all 1200 coupes come with tachos?

And, do they usually have a parcel shelf?

Thanks and i look forward to hearing some opinions!

I'm sorry 1200rallycar but I really have to disagree with you on this one!

I drive a 1600 but have owned two 1200 sedans (one of them before I even liked 1600's) which I really loved and wished that I never had to sell. Even now I have plans to keep the 16 but also get a 1200 coupe (when I can afford 2 lots of rego!).

Most 1600 owners I know love 1200's too, and prolly 1/3 of them have owned one or two in the past. Apart from the odd wanker (as you get anywhere else) most 1600 owners I know don't discriminate between models of Datsun, as long as it's a datto then its cool! :D

I know when I am out driving I wave to whatever datto owner - 1000, 1200 or 1600 - or 120y, 180b, 200b etc etc - who looks like they give a #### about their car.

(by the way my ca18t was fitted without a 'kit') ;)

The Queensland Performance Datsun Club is having a cruise on Saturday the 14th of December.

We will be meeting at Pine Rivers Park, Bald Hills at 11am and making our way up through the Sunshine Coast hinterland, down through Nambour, then Maroochydore, then back home. The approx time of the cruise will take 3-4 hours and we will be stopping up the top of the hinterland to have a BBQ.

For any more information visit our website, www.qpdc.cjb.net The only cost is $1 for the BBQ (if wanting to eat) and club stickers can be purchased for $5. Tell as many people as possible and we hope to see you all there!

On my old 1200 we got some springs from the back of either a 180b or 200b, they are heaps stiffer and we needed to cut about 1/2-1/3 of the coil off, it was pretty low though. For standard ride height you would prolly only need to cut 1/3-1/4 off.

Just measure the diameter and check out your local wreckers for some springs that have the same diameter but look beefier. ;)
