I've heard the same about a 1200 that was lowered, guards flared and bigger engine swapped into. Why destroy a classic car?
hahaha! i guess you got me...

There's just something about the Zeds. I don't know what it is, but as Benny said anything other than a straight six just seems wrong. And why on earth would you put an auto in a sports car? And messing with such desirable, classic lines is plain wrong. Fit some period style spoilers (same applies to the wheels) if you want, but cutting holes is way over the line! it's all personal taste, but in my book that guy doesn't deserve a Zed - it should be confiscated and handed over to ME!

Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against modifying Zeds, just show a little historic sensitivity. Engine swaps like modern twin cam multivalve straight sixes are cool. And I've got nothing against V8's. I've owned them in the past, and I currently own a V8 engined 240K coupe, whose alloy V8 probably is lighter than the L24 6cyl! I'm sure nobody minds that thing being cut up! Makes me want to go out and butcher one of their favourite Muscle Cars!

btw, the best sounding car I've ever heard is a wild 3000+cc L28 powered Zed with triple Webers etc.

"BAD 240" is spot on. I hate it. Anyone who sticks either a V8 or auto in a 240Z should have their car confiscated. And this bloke has done both. And he's cut a hole in the bonnet! Sacralidge! Someone give this bloke a Torana quick... And then there's the god-awful wheels...And the rear wing...urrgghhh! I can't look anymore...

yeah, sorry Kev, it was Mark I was thinking of. I'm thinking of getting them to make up a set of reverse eye leaves for me, primarily to increase the rear spring rate so i can get rid of the BIG swaybar I have to run on the rear at the moment, and also to improve the pinion angle and hopefully get a bit better start line traction.

yeah, love that deep dish look. those Watanabe wheels look good too - much better than the 15" version of the Superlite - they added an extra couple of spokes to the 15" and the flat centre bit is too big and they just kinda look wrong - out of proportion. The Wantanabes still look 'right'

The Superlites are only cast alloy, I doubt if they come in magnesium. They're really "Superlite" in name only. They weigh 5.5kg each, which I think is the same as the 13*6" Bathurst Globe wheels I used to use so that's not too bad. The 'minilites' I had on it recently were very old, high magnesium content alloy and weigh only 4.5kg ea

I'm painting the flares tomorrow (I think I still have some white paint left) and will take some photos after that.

nah, 2nd hand. I don't have any photos of my actual wheels yet, but I found that pic on the web so people would know what I was talking about. I paid pretty much top dollar for them $400, but they are in very good condition and only about 12 months old. Mine have white centres. I believe they are around $200 per wheel brand new.

I guess I could be wrong, but I can't see how more efficient exhaust scavenging could effect your mixtures.
Unless...check for vacuum leaks around the manifold gasket and make sure all manifold nuts are tight. Also check all vacuum hoses

1) not me. do they bolt up to the steering arms? Do the 1200 strut tops fit the insert shaft? I guess I'm asking how many mods/parts are needed to fit them.
2) yep, just cut the front lower edge of the gaurd.
3) dunno. lots of bolt in Datsun options with decent brakes. Do those Escort struts have the nice little twin piston calipers?
