Stock shock absorbers will be fine with 25-30mm lower springs and 1" lowering block. If you can't get springs in Europe, you might find a seller on ebay.com.au who might ship internationally.

the manifold is going to be the cheap, quick, easy bit. Finding someone willing to setup the carbs is going to be the hard, time consuming, expensive part!

fair enough for 4 door escorts - they are righfully unloved :P I assumed the Escort Sport was a 2 door, and I sort of instantly think 2 doors when people say 'Escort'

I can see both sides of the argument, but to me a replica needs to be original spec not a highly modified road racer. If all it takes is twin sidies, there's a million SSS replicas out there, just missing a couple of squares of black paint.
On the Escort comparison, anytime there's an iconic/hero/high performance version of a car, that increases the prices of the base model versions. You see it with Escorts, old Mazda 808s, Capellas, Datsun 240Ks, etc. Maybe there's something of that in NZ due to their local 1200 SSS variant, or maybe he's just trying to cash in on the cred gained by Murph owning one? :P Really, even the JDM GX5 isn't a hero model imo. Maybe to the Japanese who grew up watching TS Cup, but it has next to no exposure internationally. Nothing like the Escorts. In Aus, there's definitely no comparing the value of a 1200 to an Escort! The only thing driving 1200 prices up here is the big dollars people spend on CA/SR street machines, the old school JDM craze, or trying to ride the coat tails of 240K and Zed prices...

Wierd. WA mustn't use NCOP? NCOP allows 3200cc NA and 2200cc turbo iirc. What about an L16? Difference in performance between L16 and L18 in a mild street motor is not really even noticeable.

No, I'm not trying to "do justice" to a guy trying to get as much money as he can for his car. I'm trying to prevent members here buying something on the claim that it is one of the most powerful A series around! The dyno readout is unequivocally fudged. By how much is the only question. The engine and box are the only real selling points of the car, so it's worth pointing out that discrepancy. It might help some members who don't know quite so much about this sort of stuff make a more informed decision about the car. I haven't said anything about what it's worth other than you can buy or build other more modified 120Ys for less. I'm sorry you're so offended by that for some reason. That doesn't mean someone won't want this quad TB injected 120y 5spd - it might be exactly what someone's looking for, and they might not care that the dyno operator fudged that readout. ITB's are cool. 5spds are hard to find, and certainly make them a better thing to drive. I'm sure it goes OK and sounds awesome. And I reckon you'd struggle to build a quad throttle injected 5spd 120Y for the same price. Everyone can make their own decision on what it's worth.
