If the only real selling point for your $6500 120Y is the "117bhp" engine and 5spd, but it turns out to be a stock head, yes that matters! Unless you don't mind being completely ripped off.
I sold my rust free 120Y 2dr sedan last August with turbo L20B, 5spd, mod plated, roll caged, S13 brakes, good suspension, rare 120Y 2dr sedan for less than he's asking... Pretty sure this (extremely) orange coupe was advertised for the same price back then too btw It certainly has been for sale since well into last year. I'm such a tyre kicker, I since bought a better condition 120Y coupe and modified it far more extensively than this one for less money.

That means a 5.2% overage (if my calculations are correct) so the indicated 117.3 HP should be more like 111.5 HP. Either way pretty healthy for an A15
will be substantially more than 5bhp I'd imagine, but without knowing what the Dyno Dynamics does with that value, it's all just guesswork. lots of guys with race engines struggle to make more than 100rwbhp. So without knowing what headwork (none mentioned), CR (not mentioned) or cam (just says "huge"), who knows... But if it really had the amount of work required to make that kind of power you'd mention some of that in your ad wouldn't you - not just "Rebuilt A15 oval port, fuel injected with a huge cam"

I'm not planning on selling this one! Shouldn't have sold the last one really. But I prefer the coupes anyway. No plans for an LSD or anything, it's just a street car/cruiser. I have 2 other cars for more spirited driving, both with LSDs. I'm happy just cruising around in this, not pushing to the point you need an LSD. The engine conversion isn't for maximum performance, just to make it a much nicer car to drive with effortless grunt compared to the little A series, and a 5spd box. Plus it's cool to have something a little out of the ordinary under the bonnet.

I don't know if any of them had the vertical filter standard. The Gregory's manual I have for Stanzas shows horizontal filters and they used a late square light model in their pics. This one I had was an early round light Stanza.
Had to trim off the corner of the engine mount rubber to clear the filter after modifying the mounting bracket.

some pics.... notched x-member with stanza mounts welded on. lowered the drivers side engine bracket about 30mm. Passenger side we left the engine bracket alone to help the Stanza extractors fit, and lowered the Stanza x-member mount instead. All the fabrication is done now. Just some internal reg alternator wiring, finish off the hydraulic clutch conversion and a few other little bits and it will be running.

block even matches the engine bay!
Did a similar thing to my old 1200 from the 90s and used the engine mount brackets off the Stanza x-member in this conversion, just lowered about 30mm. And notched the x-member to sit the engine nice and low. I'll be running the downdraught weber at first. The stanza extractors fit too :)

'bout time i did something with the Y again. I've been a bit distracted with a new car I bought - a V6 powered MR2 which is a good bit of fun :) Always liked them and almost bought a turbo import one many years ago - they've remained on the list of things I really wanted. And this one came up cheap. Real cheap. So I now have the Delica 4WD, twin turbo Soarer, V6 MR2, and the 120Y coupe. It's all getting a bit out of control lol I also still had the Stanza parts car taking up room, so I pulled all the bits I wanted off it last weekend and got the shell taken away...
Now that the engine's sitting there I want to get the L16 conversion done asap. , I've got this week off and yesterday I pulled the 120Y apart - engine, box, diff and leaf springs out, cleaned up the Borg Warner diff ready for paint.
Today I added a leaf to the rear springs - they were nice and low, but just a bit too soft. Also cleaned the springs and all the mounting hardware. Scraped all the loose body deadener off the underbody with a wire wheel on the grinder, then pressure washed the whole underside of the car. Once that was dry I painted the whole underside of the car, the diff, leaf springs etc in chassis black.
Tomorrow I've got to get it basically back together so it's ready to move to Nev's place on Wednesday with the hoist and welder to get the L16 and Stanza 5spd in there :)
