ok, so by looking at ur pics, id say the coolant is running through the same place but it is coming out from the carby, not at the side of the manifold, i have to wait till i got a spare day to remove the carby and have a look if its coming from the carby, or its coming through the carby in the same place as your pictures demonstrated.. am i correct in presuming that this is what could be happening?

hi all!
incase u havnt been following i bought a 1200 wagon, the dude before me musta bashed it round the bush cuz as i removed the (empty) radiator there was loads of spear grass in it LOL, but yeh, filled it up with radiator fluid and waited to see if all was good.... only to find a trickle of coolant coming out from just midway on the carby above the exhaust manifold, looks like its coming out from the end of a bolt not the join.. i think he drove the car dry as it has got no engine oil and the radiator was empty wen i got it.. there is only little drops of coolant coming out and it stops after it reaches a certain level... he said he blew the head gaskett so i believe this may be the problem, but im yet to remove the head to have a look, maybe if i keep filling it the leak will stop? just thought i would ask some professionals before i go any further..
thanks

hey thanx guys, i tell u wat im gunna do now... im gunna get the manual.. can i order it from here or can i just order it from a supercheap or something???! either way, ill do that, buy some tools and ill check out the head gaskett myself.. still im not going to worry about the body side of things for now, itll last a fair bit longer i rekon and instead ill pop in the a15 and all the other stuff that goes with it and make it a phat lil speed demon, if i enjoy the feel of it i may then take to the body and restore it completely.... now i think that sounds like a plan.. im still waiting on digi cam so i can post pics..
p.s. im from townsville QLD australia

hi all, first id like to say wat a lovely site this is and wat a lovely helpful bunch of people you are...
k, now to my dilema..
ive always loved 1200's so wen i found out an aquaintance of mine had no room to keep his 1200 4 door wagon i offered to buy it from him... for $100! yes can u believe it??? this car is by no means a wreck, i will have pics up soon, the floor plugs are quite rust free (jsut some surface ####) and the sills on the sde are fine also, no bog work on these parts as far as i can tell, the front flooring has been refabricated and it has a goddamn sun roof too aparently the headgaskett is broken but im not too sure on whether i should fix it or what???? i really dont know wat i wanna do with it atm, i will be earning money as soon as i graduate from uni in dec so im not expecting that to be a problem... i just wanna hear other enthusiasts opinions whther i should give it the TLC it deserves or just sell it or make it a drag monster... id really like to clean it up and put an A15 in it seeing as that looks the best for performance and $$$$, i have limited mechanical experience so most of the work would be sent to a shop... any insights or opinions on what i should do would be greatly appreciated.. i promice pics within the next week
-thx all

well, i do have to sand off the old house paint, so wuoldn't that make it a bare metal respry?? or does the car have a protective coating before the baremetal that i shouldn't sand past???? (im really new at this).
since the original colour is white and i am not paiting the inside im; thinking of painting it white again with a blue racing strip down the drivers side, sound good ? anyone got any good paint scheme suggestions??

hey again all,
i got that datto sedan (the ute can wait) and well as i said before its been painted with house paint.
I have access to a warehouse a compressor, sander etc, i dont have much $$$$ so im gunna prep and paint myself.
just a few questions....
1*first of all does anyone know of any good do it yourself prep and paint websites????
2*should i take out one panel out at a time and sand and paint it that way??, because there may be times where i have to leave my datto for a period of weeks (uni, work, girlfriend) and if i sand it all without painting it wont rust set in???? there fore it would be sensible if i did sand then paint (prime) one part then go onto the next right????
3* would it be alright if say i sanded one part and primed it? then went on to the next?
4* any info on do it urself painting would be good? any suggestions???
