These races that you are talking about are they for a series turbo's ?
Bailz my mate has ran a fuel pump straight out of tank with no surge tank a couple of years ago its still ok now, but with a turbo motor I would run one to be on the safe side you don't want to drop fuel pressure under high boost to often

Hi I am selling my ute and sedan in parts or complete I was going to use sedan to fix ute but now lost interest
Rolling licensed ute shell no dash or tail gate with 13 inch chromies tow bar and crappy bull bar 5 months rego pretty rusty $700
running sedan with dash no interior or rear doors $150
will swap for other parts or a coupe
is advertised in Quokka if cant sell complete I will wreck them both

Ive been running 12 psi through a 20,000 km old standard a12 (standard head gasket) for nearly 2 years it puts out 106hp I've had no troubles with it the motor just changed out first broken diff this week. its probably done 6-7000kms with turbo on it now. I had it at the drags about a year ago with a 3.7 diff in it it only got 15.6 sec 134 kph in 3rd gear @6800 revs I couldn't get it off the line quick because the clutch would slip or wheel spin
You should keep it and spend some money on a tune I got mine done at Ova boost in Malaga
