just because fosters and vb are the most popular beers in OZ, doesnt necessarily mean that they are the best. my favourite aussie beer is Toohey's Old , a great dark ale. It is the the beer I will recommend to my kids when the time comes , good thing too it is the price of standard beers.

I actually wanted to ask about this
is it worth getting the heavy duty valvesprings?
and what are the GX and GT4 radiators like?

dont forget the A15 had about 10kg of emissions gear on it and a pissy carb. take it all off and fit something decent and you'd easily be looking at 90

the reason I need the overdrive is because my car tops out at about 140 revving its box off where I know it has more with the 1500.
right now I'm probably no better for top end than with the original 1000cc .. I know the 12" rims and 4.11 diff ratio will contribute but a 5th cog would really be nice for relaxed cruising.

he said he'll take 300 for it and I had a good talk to him and he doesnt sound like a hoon. he fits them to morris minors. he has the overdrive one in his which he uses for interstate trips. he said it has been sitting for about 5 years, but that shouldnt matter with a gearbox surely?

yea dattodude
you are not wrong there!
even when you have 1 agreeable mate to help you out things go 3 times as fast. just little things like having someone to hold a spanner on a bolt from the underneath the dash while you tighten it on the firewall side.
and one of you can hit the body while another is doing the mechanical side of things. sadly not many 'mates' stay mates when asked to assist in such operations..
well apart from when the Virgin Blood is flowing , mind you ;)

I've only seen that photo of a 2 door wagon, once. If you can find one of that or a 4 door, then go for it.

It needs to be in the best condition to start with, and unless you are a panel beater and spray painter by trade, don't bother with a bare metal restore..It'll kill you, like it's killing me. I think that anyone who finishes a complete bare metal rebuild has either some serious patience, or endless bank account.

Mine will get finished, I might need to take time off work. The hour or 2 I have spare (at home) gives me not enough time to do mine. I need to eat sometime. But with summer and Daylight Savings here, I should manage a couple of extra free hours.

lol! please! support a local perth boy!
1200rallycar has secretly told me that he is a closet lada fan! (what more reason do you need lol?) .. just jokes
a 5 speed is really on the books because the gears on the 1000 box are just too short for the torque of the A15, plus I'll probably end up breaking it anyway.. so if you decide to get one for yourself and there are any spare I'll be there quicker than an alco to a pissup, just give the word!

haha!
also dont forget that when you pull the tailshaft out of the gearbox oil is going to come pissing out. you might want to drain it first!
did both of those when I was taking mine out ;)
