Rockon : you need to contact me about your bumpers ;)
I'm puzzled now, well how come in the datsun wiki it says they are a H190? or at least have H190 parts in them.
*edit* also decided to sell my Datsun 1000 sports steering wheel as I've decided to get a nardi. Will go on a 1200 or 120Y but the indicator cancelling pins have been specifically modified to suit a 1000. $60 with boss kit. will post some pictures later on.

always wanted to do one of these with an FJ20 turbo and an intense strip out with custom wishbone front suspension and a rear IRS, of course with a view to making it a trackday / hillclimb / autocross street legal weapon
*edit* did Todd Hallenbeck ever complete his one? I remember when he switched camps from street machine mag to fast fours he'd seen one at a show in Japan and gone crazy over them and bought one to start a project , but I never saw any updates on it in either mag.

I heard on another forum that there is a guy that goes through asia buying up a series 5 speeds. But I never found out who it is. The factory overdrive 5 speeds can be a bit weak as the overdrive part sits in a extension housing the the back of the usual 4 speed case and this part doesnt always get oil to it during hard cornering or going downhill. I always thought it would be more cost effective in the end to get a bellhousing from somewhere such as dellow and install a smooth shifting , reliable celica T50 gearbox. even though it's got a toyota logo on it..

There is nothing wrong with the ACL gaskets, just make sure you don't use any hylomar on them as much as you may be tempted to - as they already have embedded sealant for the waterways in them. Just make sure you clean up the deck surface really thoroughly of the old gasket and dirt with a paintscraper or similiar and then give good elbow grease wipe with clean rag and thinners or acetone. although they don't recommend this, I retorque all my headgaskets at 500kms and then 3-5000kms. seems to be the trick. Apparently there was a japanese gasket brand called KP that was really the bomb before ACL came good but I don't think they are around any more.
