See we have a family take-away that my bro runs. I work in town. I used to drive the van then i bought the golf. My bro has a 124 series merc and at the moment the van parks at home, hardly ever used. He uses the merc to the shop and back.

So since the van is hardly used anymore we wana change the motor and use the van for the shop and park the merc of. Thats y it has to be a daily runner.

Plans to mod the golf is on the way. At the moment i have an 8v cross flow head. Saving up for a set of ITBs and need to convert to FI. Saving up and doing everything at once on the Golf. I should make about 145kw ATW when its complete.

Hi all, I used to post on this forum before but havn't in a long time reason being i bought a VW Citi Golf (MK1) BUT... I still have my Nissan 1400 Bakkie

So its been like 5 months since i bought my car and decided its time to mod the bakkie. My bro and I are goin to do the project but it still has to be a daily runner.

This is what he was thinking, Toyota twincam 16V or the 20v. No work is going to be done on the motor cos we wana leave it standard.

What are your thoughts in doing an engine transplant in a bakkie? Not gnna use a turbo or supercharger, has to N/A. What motors, gear boxes, diffs should we use to get a good daily runner that can still scare some of the "faster" cars.

Thanks to all in advance.

Na no damage, in South Africa we jus made the change from leaded to lead replacement petrol in jan this year. So any i phoned up a nissan dealer to find out what fuel i should use and he said i should have been using unleaded from a long time ago,

Dont even need t retard the timing.

Yep, 4-AGZE. From the old MR-2. If u use a good management witht the engine standard tink u can get sumting like 130kw from it, and dats standard.

What do dey sell for Down Under? In South Africa i can get the motor with a GOTECH PRO management system with gearbox for R8000. Not sure what the exchange rate is.
