My son and I watched him compete here in the US at the X games a few weeks ago.

We were hoping that he would make up for last years roll over when he was last driver out, had fastest time and the finish line was in sight.

No such luck except he did redeem himself somewhat by rolling closer to the finish line this year!

And that was how he always drove - absolutely 10/10ths.

Sad to note that both he and his 555 teammate Possum Bourne have both been killed in non-racing accidents.

Thanks for the memories Colin.

Thats a good time on a tight track that probably isn't the best match for the big GTR!!

As a comparison what was the best time you did in the CA?

Hey Tuukka - if you are going to make your own bellhousing try to find a Jatco automatic transmission from an A series car. Some members have used this bellhousing instead of the Dellow kit.

You will need the Toyota clutch and pressure plate.

Trademe NZ consistently has the coolest Datsun parts. Why is that?

Great question Dd.

I think it has a lot to do with:

# geographic isolation (dev. of engineering skills)
# having a real appreciation for a wide range of cars
# a very strong motorsports heritage
# a bunch of owners who still have time after work to 'potter' around on their cars
# domination in the world of rugby

This week I was told about an original BRE LHD car existing in NZ. Nothing surprises me anymore re: what lurks in some quite plain looking sheds...

Here is a great example of the fantastic work that Tony Marsh has done with the humble A series over the years. It could be argued that the best developed A series outside of Japan exist in NZ and this would be one of them. Maybe this would rival anything in Japan too??

Professionally built by Marsh Motorsport
Fuel injected
Titanium valves (Some new spares)
Roller rockers
Highly modified head etc., etc.
JE custom forged pistons (Some new spares)
Forged rods
Custom Cosworth (UK) Steel crankshaft
Crank scraper
Super trick dry sump
Stock Car Racing Dry Sump Pump (V8)
Crank timing trigger
Petersen's dry sump tank with pre-heating element
Light flywheel (Obviously)
Tilton clutch
190 + hp
No engine management computer (Motec used)
Hand fabricated extractors all ccd virtually identical
All stainless steel braided lines
Engine runs in a vacuum so no breathers on engine - only on dry sump!
Only one meeting since rebuild
Pukekohe high 66sec. (SS2000)

NZ bewdy

Of course the price reflects it's value.

They sent me a photocopied English catalogue. They have some great things for sale and are beginning to ship more around the world.

Where did you source all this from? How much was the Head Gasket? Assume we're talking about a proper engine? (ie "A" series)

A V6 in an auto-x 1200 would mess up your handling severely. Unless you are able to do a set back i.e. cut the fire wall I wouldn't consider it at all. The VG's are tight enough in the 300Z's.

How about using an SR20DE? Would be just as fast and they handle reasonably with a spring change.
