Years ago I visited the owner of the wide body and was told that the difference was easily evidenced by trying to fit an original coupe back seat - it was not wide enough.

If this was the truth (and I had no reason to doubt him) then the difference was not because of moving the rails in.

Such a mod (if it is legit) means it was a true extra width body that allowed a wider rear track under 'stock' sheetmetal.

This would not be repeated for 100 different vehicles in order to gain a Bathurst entry - just possibly a factory 'cheat' that might help the 1200 punch even further above it's weight. And we all know there were a few of those tricks done back in the day...

Hey Bart - looks great and I wish your friend all the best. I'm interested with this type of thing on how you stop the Chinese copying it?

Thanks - DD.

A great read and a reminder why Nostalgic/Historic racing is often the best Motorsport you can view or participate in.

I am inspired...

Harry you get the last laugh on this!!

Watto will be out of the Datsun scene and sunbathing his buff IT body on the front of his Mexican built boat while you continue dominating on the track.

I always knew yas'd outlast him!!!

Don't be too hard on your self Burko - nothing wrong with being young and living in the Outback. Keep listening and learning and the rest will take care of itself.

If it's the H150 and you drive conservatively then it will last. But if you unleash that 2.0 litre torque on that diff it will break before the sun sets on the first day - if that!!
