Stirlingmac your pictures rock. Made me homesick and got my right foot tapping! With the Marsh coupe you said that the floorpan was lifted - do you mean dropped like Pikey's or was something different done? Are they the same car? What motor did your Tranzam run? I loved your comment about the starter motor engaging at 9000 - is that a small block I can see through the hole?!Thanks for showcasing the depth of talent and cars that NZ has and we look forward to other Datty stuff being posted.

I heard there was a pretty exclusive one in the Port McQuarrie area but it was only for Sparky's who'd been electrocuted by their own Datsuns. I'm not sure if you qualify?

Any one in Aus purchased a laminated Coupe windscreen recently? Where from and cost? The previous link needs to have the X.htm added to INDE - was separated by the message frame. Any one know what the Dat 5 kit is worth? Cheers.

Due to an error in judgement I have allowed my mate to rebuild his HK Monaro in my shed. After performing a series of unauthorised burnouts on my lawn (I was inside the house some distance away) he reversed back into the shed. Unfortunately his vented Galaxie 500 discs and rebuilt brake system were no match for the fresh 327 and 9 inch. Just after he finished reversing through my back wall I turned up and found out that when he put his foot on the brake the bucket he was sitting on had moved backwards thus rendering the braking operation ineffective. He felt pretty bad but not as bad as I did when he told me that, an hour earlier, he had moved the front and rear wind screens from my race coupe to the same wall he'd just driven through. I need front glass for the class I run in and drew a blank with a quick ring round back in NZ. Now that I am on the West Island I would like to track down a new, laminated front screen for my coupe. If any one in Aus or NZ knows a supplier would you mind posting details? Cheers.

The set up I found myself with had a couple of things against it. In his eagerness to mount 90 degree shocks the previous owner had made up a lovely set of turrets and then found he had to navigate the rear subframe. Solution was to lean the shocks over to about 110 degrees - not good! The second thing was the front mounting points of the A arm were not inline with the front spring mounts and the rear was rigid. So eventually something had to break - luckily it was the shocks and the A arm together! Still it was interesting while it lasted. It was my first coupe and after 240Z's I just thought it was a quaint handling trait of the solid rear that a 1200 coupe would become unsettled in mid corner bumps and hop across the road!

I'm not sure about the US but there is a difference in Australia and New Zealand. The Sedan has a horizontal speedo and no rev counter unless it was the SSS in which case it was mounted on the console. The coupe has two round dials - speedo and rev counter and looks rather more swish. Did the US sedan have a standard rev counter? I find your comments on ride and handling interesting. Conventional wisdom was that the sedan with it's 90 degree rear shocks had better handling potential than the coupe with its 45 degree rear. My first coupe had been converted to 90 degree for rallying but it was a poorly engineered job and used to bind with the rear A framed. I broke the A frame and blew a shock within the first month and the car has now been converted back to factory.

It doesn't matter what side of car the steering wheel is in South America - they drive on whatever side of the road they wish! As far as I'm aware the B110 was only made between 71 - 73 everywhere. We're all dealing with the same age vehicles - except for the South Africans with the still manufactured bakky.

Stirlingmac you've wrecked my day! I'm now sitting here planning a trip to South America to pick up a brand new coupe. I have a few friends over there - any idea which country? Were these rumours started by people who know what bong water is?
