Depends where you are. There are still many Datsun Sunny 5 speeds available in NZ. If you want to spend a little you can also get a conversion kit for a Toyota 5 speed. Another option would be dropping a taller diff in - depends what you use the vehicle for as to whether you want to sacrifice quickness for lower revs. Of course if you're running the A14 at 200k's then it's always gonna rev hard no matter what!

They will both be fine - that is a classic engine as they were standard from Nissan NZ. Look after it and keep an eye out for 2 x Delly 40's to get that classic noise and response.

Sounds OK Chris - as long as your 28 year old temp gauge is still peaking. Check your thermostat and start saving for a recore or a replacement in good nick. I've never run one but apparently the C20 cooler is a goer(?) Alternatively have Nana knit some new fins for you. What really concerns me is why your girlfriend moved 200 k's away? You're not the famous Datto stalker of Palmy North are you?

Against my better judgement I have accepted a postion in NSW - at least the Aussie Rugby team is winning at the moment! What is the 1200 scene like around Sydney? Any coupes for sale? I have leased a house near Eastern Creek so I can see CA18DET_MAN run his turbo! Speaking of the man - where are you Andrew? You're pretty quiet at the moment.

Hi Andy - I'd be surprised if there is much available in Japan. They have pretty strict laws regarding older vehicles and my understanding is that there aren't many around. Your best source for parts would be New Zealand and Australia as a lot of the little screamers are still on the road. The exchange rate would work in your favour too!

Pull off the intake and if the ports are oval - not round - it's a GX head.

Hi Simon - if you are serious about solving the water leak problems then you need to weld panel steel over the offending areas. Most 1200 coupes I've checked have a corrosion problem in the front scuttle area - especially at the factory join where the sealer is. With the dash out it's not too big a job -anyone with a mig can do it. It took 28 years to rust out so a patch should last as long again!! Do anything else and it'll be leaking again really quickly and you will have wasted your money.

I checked out the site but got stomach cramps and had to download. The brown ploppy stuff was healthier than this product appears to be. My favourite quote was "I now get 5mph faster at the same revs" - woo hoo it also changes the diff ratio while you're at it! I reckon combined with Power-Up you'd be unstoppable - please order a SpiralMax and tell me how wrong I am! Even the name sounds like a tapeworm:)

What are your thoughts on Mobil1 vs Castrol RS for an A12 race motor?

Hey Chris - great to hear that your treatment is helping. Regarding oil I ran one of my A12 coupes on the used 20/40 oil from my Bluebird - never missed a beat! A catch can is required in Motorsport to stop fluids expelled from your engine (eg oil and coolant) ending up on the track under your competitors tyres. There is no power gain to be had as a result of this unless you're racing in Australia and using Peter Brock's special neutron harmoniser catch can. Later...
