Mechanical Injection? I thought we were talking ignition?

There was a Hilborne injected A14 sprint car on ebay recently - $9000+!!!!

Whoops! Typo - I meant Haltech...

With a Haltech (on any engine mind you), you can program your ignition curve however you want over whatever RPM range you want and at what manifold pressure you want. It doesn't have to be a linear curve like the Jaycar kit is.

For example - with the Haltech, you program in ranges of 1000RPM (this is for a haltech E6 by the way - I'm not sure about later models).
In that range of 1000RPM you can program the amount of advance (up to 50deg BTDC!!!) over the full range of manifold pressure/vacuum.

With the Jaycar kit you only have the option of the RPM value when the advance starts, when it finishes and the total advance over this range which then results in a linear (straight line) curve. Addtionally, it only has a vacuum on/off switch to modify the curve according to engine load.

Really, it comes down to flexibiltiy of the programming and how much control over the enigne timing that you want. If you want the works, it comes at a price...

As you said - the Jaycar kit will set you back $120 - a Haltech ignition only, loom, module, etc... would set you back 10 times that.

Confused the crap out of ya yet? I have to go lie down now...

These kits are ok, but no where near a Hatech etc...

Major advantage is no points and a semi-customiseable ignition curve (Start RPM, finish RPM and total advance). You need another programmed IC for a turbo car.

Not bad for the money outlaid - so ong as you know what you're doing when it comes to electronics...

Wait till you guys see my Do-It-Yourself Distributorless Coilpack Ignition system for A-Series.

Coming Soon!!!

I think they would be different also.

Ask Craig at Mad Dat (www.maddat.com.au).

He does a 1200 CA18 kit, and he'd be happy to tell you.

I had a Galant that idled too high once. I couldn't work out why! I changed mixtures, turned screws, replaced springs, everything!

Then one day I was looking for something under the seat and noticed the carpet was wedged under the accelerator pedal!

Well, I thou ght it was funny...

www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au

www.clarkrubber.com.au

Start with these guys. I got a quote from Clark Rubber for a Datsun 1000 Windscreen rubber the other day - $180!!! . Scotts Rubber want $117!!!

The good thing about Clark Rubber, though, is that you can go in and buy Pinchweld and weather strip by the metre (about $10.50/m).

I'll be going there when my Datto is painted.

I think a whole kit will set you back over $500

Yep - guilty as charged!

They are some of my first attempts at 3D graphics.

The 120y handles like crap, but who cares? It's got an FJ20!

I can't wait until GTA:San Andreas comes out for PC (About June I think), 'cause it's gonna cop a Datto 1000 Coupe I've been saving up!!!

Actually, some of the first ones on the scene used bilge pump motors out of boats.

The latest ones use modified brushless DC motors from radio-controlled aircraft. Some of these babies spin some rediculos RPM...
