Naw, my FJ20T went straight in with only minor mods to the engine mounts...
Later model sunny with square headlights is better - more room to fit the intercooler in front of the radiator!!!

I'm in Adelaide, so I don't know about what postie vans they had over there, but here they were in the late 80's early 90's vans.

Not hard to miss, but unfortunately, it was the 'postie' Transit vans and no others...

Ok ,My first car was a GB Galant. Gutless and boring to drive. My dad recommended it to me and I had no idea about cars. I bought a seccond one for parts cause the frist one was shagged. I ended up swapping it plus $1000 cash for a Datto 1600 with a blown L20 with a T03 turbo hanging off of it. I rebiult that monster and I got bitten! I loved that car. It got published in a magazine, but at the time, I landed an appenticeship and couln't afford to keep it!!!! sob!!! I've still got a framed picture on my wall!!!!

After that, I was given a 1000 coupe that was about to be sent to the crusher. I bought a parts car ( another coupe) for $120) and re-built the bugger! I loved that too!

I sold that eventually to buy my first rotary (I was bitten by that bug also)... but that's another story....

After a while (3 years ago), my best mate sold his business, and I bought the work ute, an 84 1200 with A15, weber and extractors and a funky blue pearl paint job.

Now, I drivethat everyday, while my fiancee drives my 94 Maxima. (Front wheel drive = BAAAD!!!!).

Missing the past ,I recently bought a Datto 1000 Coupe awaiting resto which has been sitting in someones shed for the pat 10 years.

Reckon I've been bitten???

Hey, peeps!

I was just reading thru the tech articles, and came to seat installation. Nothing REAL interesting (no offence to the author :)).

I thought I'd better share my seat mod for my '84 1200 Ute. Grab a seat from a mid 90's Australia post van, which just happens to be a nice (brown) Stratos. I found both of mine from truck wrecking yards. I didn't even have to worry about the colour because it matches the interior!!!

Now comes the easy part. Grab the original Datto seat rails and modify them like this:

THAT'S IT!!!!

Bolt the seat to the rail. That's right. The seat mount widths are the same width as the 1200's!!!

Install them!!!

Now, ride in comfort! They're a little low, but that's the way I like it, yeah!




(Excuse the condition of the seats - my girlfriend is going to retrim them soon (She's a seamstress - Besides - I only paid $120 for the pair...)
