Thanks for the info. The gear box was just rebuilt, so I was hoping it was nothing wrong with the internals.

On my old gear box as well as my new one (4 speed)
The reverse always seems a little hard to get into gear when the car is still, sometimes a little rev or moving the car forward then trying again will help it get into reverse. Any idea what's going on? This happens to both my gear boxes.

Was just wondering what everyone runs. I have a few bottles of 75w 90. Or should I go 80w?

Hi everyone, just got the gearbox swapped out in the 1000 and reinstalled the carb. However, the car now starts idle at about 900rpm, then slowly goes up to 1500 by itself. I've adjusted the idle screw all the way up and it's still gaining RPMS.

Any idea what's going on?

Hum, thanks for the new info. I'm trying to find the radio or the plate that covers the hole with the words "Datsun" written on it. I have a big gaping hole there where the radio once lived. =(

Hi everyone, have not logged on for a lonnnnng time. so I finally got the time to source a rebuilt 1200 4 speed in my area (Vancouver B.C) and I have 2 weeks off school due to the Olympics. The 1000 has been sitting for quite a few months, I was wondering what steps I should take before starting it back up with the new 1200 box installed (A15 motor).

I was thinking of flushing the gas and giving it a oil change. Anything else I should be aware of when starting a car that's been sitting? Thanks
