There was also a green 1200 ute in the paper if I remember correctly. Had a mild(?) 1400 or something.

Yeah, I saw that one. I wonder what the owner meant by road/club car? Have you seen it at the races? I have seen a red coupe getting around Moonah way, its got a cage and it has white and gold stripes, bob tail and front spoiler. Looks neat but havent seen it up close, it has come into work, I think the owner is a young guy.

Hey Tim,
I have always wanted to do up my other coupe in an old school style with flares etc and these wheels would look cool ( prefer Superlites tho). But I dont think I will ever get around to doing that. Have you still got your 1600? My mate ended up buying a fully original EH Holden and also an EK Holden ute. The EH is in brilliant condition, ute needs some work though.
Cheers, Simon

Andrew,
Ive got mine mounted to the horizontal bar between the rear arms. Interesting to see the slight differences in cages between L18's and mine. My rear arms are welded to the floor inbetween the wheel arches. I love how clean that interior is, mine is white too but it needs a lick of paint, would love to have it looking like L18's but its just going to get dust and crap all over it!
Cheers, Simon

Super Cheap dont stock any for 1200's but can order one. I had a lady come in with her sedan (original and immaculate!) and we tried heaps of caps but couldnt get one to fit. She took one that was a good fit but it leaked. She swore that 120Y ones and 1200 ones were different, but our catalogues said that 1200 and 120Y were the same. The filler neck was stock.
I asked her to sell me the car but she wasnt parting with it. She has had it around 30 years, its gone around the clock about 3 times with no mechanical failure. She gets it regularly serviced and looks after it. This sedan is sweeeet!

Its great to have some one like your self 1200coupe on these forums especailly with your depth of knowledge. People like Michael and myself can really benefit from your ideas seeing as we are into rally.
I have one question about engine mounts. I have just dummied the setup of my 1200 motor and Hurricane extractors in the rally car. I have found that the extractors foul on the engine mount. I have breifly spoken to one of the rally guys down here about it and still have to check out his setup. He had the same problem. I used one of my spare mounts to check what amount of metal I needed to cut out of the mount so the extractors dont hit. Turns out I cut most of the rear vertical part on the engine mount out so the extractors would fit (instead of being a channel U its now a L). Seeing as you are an engineer can you tell me if this mount will still be strong enough? Should I design a new mount? I thought about utelising the mount without cutting it by turning it upside down, so instead of the channel being open from above (ie "U") it was up the other way. I am going to kick myself that I didnt get this car going sooner. Once the engine mount is sorted we can make a gearbox cross member, then the tailshaft can be made up, then it will move!
Cheers,
Simon

Hate to be a smart arse but only 400 were built. 100 were 4.9 litre V8 manual 100 were 4.9 litre V8 auto (softies) 120 were 5.8 litre V8 auto 50 were 5.8 litre V8 manual 30 were "Bathurst" specials - which had cool features like strut brace, idler arm brace, thermo fan, transmission oil cooler and bonnet scoop.
I would love a Cobra, sure there body is similar to the American styling of that era and the white with blue stripes is nothing new (GT.350 Mustangs etc) but there is something special about 'em.
I love the styling of the XA/B/C's. Thats why I daily drive the big XB, while the 1200 is reserved for race duties (one day!). I still have this other shell that I would love to put a SR20 in, dream dream dream. :)

You dont have to run a regulator. I have a large Weber down draught on my Ford ute and an electric fuel pump that pushes about 7psi. It runs a little rich ofcourse but I have no drama with too much pressure, actually has a nice pop pop sound when you back off the go pedal or change gears.
If you cant afford a regulator then you can make a nice simple one that is effective and will cost you very little.

Great to see another rally freak joining the club. Sounds like you have a fairly modded coupe and are having some good fun racing!
I also have a rally coupe (see avatar). It is STILL getting the motor built as I am building to a budget (takes time). The coupe is in full rally trim as I bought it from a bloke who rallied it but he took out the A15 and 5spd (yes, A15). I could also crap on a bit about it, but I wont bore you with it. Please spill the beans and let us know the details on your coupe.
Welcome to the club.
