I will try and keep carting it around on a trailer to the minimum but it wont be my daily driver. She will be in the shed and pulled out for rally weekends or practice/club sessions.

I cant wait to have a go in it. I washed it this arvo and it was a trip down memory lane. I felt like I still had my old Datto! Well I still have it but its pretty stacked!

Not to sure on SI rego. I know the number plate says SI.XXXX! I think you have to fill out a log book of where and when you drive the car. You can only do so many kay's in the one year. Peter said that I should be good for SI rego as its not my primary car (the ute is) and its a perpose built race car. I will ask the rego people and see what they say. But I dont want to pay $460 a year for rego if I only drive in a handfull of rallys a year. You can understand that, hey?

1200rc, nah Peter was smart enough to take the Terra-trip with him. MY girlfriend wants to buy a new one. I told her that its about $800 but she is still keen, we might be lucky and find a good nick second hand one. We also need to get a Terraphone cause from what Peter told me it is bloody loud when the Dellorto's are at full noise and the exhaust and rocks are chronic aswell.

Its all fun and games! Rego runs out next month so I want to get that Special Interest rego, you guys heard of that? Its like half the price of normal rego!

My dad and my girlfriend (navigator) got some happy snaps today as we were backing it off the trailer. I got some action shots of the coupe when it was driven by the previous owner (Peter) in the ARC event here in Tas. But being the slack ass that I am I havent got them developed and the round was back in August or Septmember or something!

It looks similar to the pic in the second page of the rally section in the photo album. It now has blue running up the side of the car near the rear. It is 2pak commercial vehicle white. Looks shmick!

Thanks mate, I dont know whats up with not being able to start threads??

Anyway, the story so far...I have not been posting for ages. Reason being, back in mid November I got a job at Super Cheap Auto here in Tassie. I have just been recently put on as Assistant Manager. So Im pretty stoked. This as you could imagine has meant long hours blah blah. I have been reading some recent posts but havent had much to say. The club seems to be going stronger than ever which is a credit to all the guys and their friendly, helpful nature.

So my new Datto. If you look through the rally section of the photo album you fill find my comments on Peter Reid's 1200 Coupe. Well...I have now bought this car. I called the place where he works (Hobart's no.1 place for performance/race mods etc) and asked how much a rollcage would cost for the coupe I was building. The bloke mentioned that Peter was selling the coupe and so I had a chat with him. Ended up buying it Friday and got it brought around to my place today!

The car...well its a 1973 coupe. It came without a donk and gearbox. Reason being that Peter ran an A15 and 5spd but is not allowed to run the A15 this year. So instead of running an A12 he has got a Sunny that he will drop the A15 in. This means I will be building an A12 for the new coupe. I have a GX head with a manifold for twin Dellorto's or Webers. So Im on the look out for twin Dellorto's about 40mm should go nicely.

The coupe has a full steel rollcage, Sparco race seats, battery in the boot, brake bias adjuster, map light, push button start etc. Needs new harnesses as the new rules state that race harnesses have a used by date, but thats not much of a hassle.

The fornt end is a beautiful setup with a Datsun 240K front end. Fully adjustable toe, camber, caster, ride height etc. It runs Bilstein front shocks. I need to get some new rear shocks as Peter took the old ones with him as they were also big dollar Bilstein items!

The rear diff is out of a Daihatsu believe it or not. It is a slightly smaller track than the standard 1200 diff. It is a locker too, makes for a bit of excitement! Drums on the rear but they are pretty decent size. It runs 13 inch rims allround with (i think) 165 Bridgestone Potenza rally tyres.

Cant wait to put this motor in and go for a spin. I just need a few bits and pieces to get started such as the harnesses, fuel pumps, rear shocks. First rally of the season is in 3 weeks but I will not go in it, I am ken to help the club out with officialing duites though.

So thats the main jist of things,

Regards,
Simon

Andrew, how hard would this process (converting to electronic ignition) be to do yourself? Do you just have to change over gears or something??

I have just bought a rally car and I want to run electronic ignition in the A12 motor I am going to build for it.

Cheers,
Simon

Yeah thats what I was thinking 1200RC! hehe

I have to agree with the fact that if the fuse was gone you wouldnt hear a whirring noise. Hmmm...I dont have a mulitmetre either but I do have a test light.

I will check my settings again and look yet again for the button.

If you want to start the topic for me that would be great. Title is: "PlayStation busted?"

I had my PS1 plugged into a power board (those things that let you run 5 sockets from 1) which was on at the wall socket but the PS1 wasnt turned on and we had a black out. The PS1 now makes some rare high pitch wirring sound when you plug it into any power socket in the house. You can not turn the bastard on either. Press the button on the console and nothing happens! Im mighty pissed about it!

I thought it might be the fuse inside the console but I cant tell as the fuse isnt clear. Anyone got any ideas? This happened to anyone before??

I asked Daniel and he told me where the button is to post a new topic but I cant find the bloody thing! I am I going blind? No I havent had anything to drink.

Feels kinda special that 510 post doesnt it, post whore! haha jokeing

I have been actively invloved with ww.fordforums.com and they have made a move to not display the number of posts as people were constantly post whoring to get the most posts. If you continually do it or brake other rules you get banned.

Now Im not suggesting that as I know we are having some light hearted fun and we dont have as many members as that forum does, plus we all know its quality not quantity. Plus we are all a bunch of good guys and gals who wont ruin our own forums.
