Ash, that is one of the funniest things I have read too. I will have to use that "EFTPOS" saying on some mates! haha My old Datto 1200 was called "The Datto!", pretty common. But everyone used it as a "haha, datto driver" slagging thing, until they saw it. This was when they didnt have a car and I did. Also by people who now own Dattos, whos having the last laugh?
My Ford XB Falcon ute was called "the XB". It just has that short to the point nature. Other Holden owners called it a chook tin etc but I showed them how it was done! (sideways and in a straight line)
My new ute is still unamed because I am thinking of a wicked title. It has been (affectionatly?) nicknamed the Batmobile because of the V8 Supercar rear wing, but that sucks for a name. The ute is black, lowered and has a body kit and 18"s, I was gonna go with Black Betty but that was taken by another XR8 owner. I was thinking "Jet" as in Jet Black and jet plane rear wing. I dunno, gonna give the name some thought.
My 2 cents.
Simon

Sorry to get a little off topic guys but...Supercheap doesnt keep much of this gear in stock but can get it (usually) overnight. Its unfortunate most people dont know what aftermarket automotive shops (like supercheap) can get in...things like NOS, crate motors, quick shifters, rods and pistons, race alloy wheels, electronic ignition conversion kits, blah blah. Next time your in a Supercheap store, be nice to the spare parts guy and ask for a look in the Rocket Industries catalogue. There is some gear in there!

by Team_Dat: thats old skool in my mind using the technology of the age of the car keeping it true to it's age.
Yeah, that sums up old school for me. My '74 XB Falcon is what I would term retro-tech. It runs a 4ltr OHC motor from a '92 model Falcon.

I was saying to some mates that I wanted to do an old school 1200 Coupe. My plan was bolt-on flares, bobtail, fat 13" wheels possibly beans or superlites, A series, twin sidies, rorty note out the back, original style black vinyl interior with sports wheel (black three spoke, ofcourse) and the colour couldnt be anything too flash. No metallic paint here, maybe black or that creamy colour that one of my coupes originally had from the factory. Chrome bumpers and wing mirrors, full chrome stripping under the doors as per factory. Its all about cams, carbs and cars that on somedays give you the ####s casue they are tempramental old cars. But old school to me (60-70's) may not be the same old school as my uncle sees which might be 20's-60's. Great thread!
Cheers,
Simon

Just looking through some old posts and found this. Not sure if I could make it, depends if I can get off my ass and finish all the projects I have on the go!
To make things worse, I bought a new ute. Which means more money out of the bank for reg, insurance, paying it off!
Would love to do a road trip tho, would be great! Especially in the new ute, Ford AUII XR8.
Cheers, Simon

Well, Ive got Thursday and Friday off. Thursday I have to work out why the windscreen wipers in the XB are not working and fix it. Plus there are some other things on the ute that are really pissing me off, so I will try and fix those. I also wanna try and finish building my tandem (custom Datsun 1200) trailer. Almost done on it, just gotta setup the brakes, put on the guards, lick of paint etc etc. Friday, the family stuff, woo hoo.
Might try and look at some XR6 ute's if I can find any, got the itch to look into buying one again.
Cheers, Simon

Guys,
FYI, the latest Zoom is almost in shops and it has a little bit of coverage of the Dat Nats. Lots of 1600's but a couple of pics of 1200 enigne bays.
The front cover has a red Sil-Eighty (Nissan Silvia front on a 180SX).
Cheers,
Simon

A mate of mine bought a 120Y with a worked L20 and 5 speed (?). He said it went hard, but he only bought it for the motor and box that he put into his 200B SSS.
