Hey guys, l'm alive...... just. Computer blew up, so haven't been on in a while!!!
Dave, you need some new bearings???
The ones l use now seem to be much better quality (though it depends on which version you have), so l can give you a good price on a set if you want?? (plus l wouldn't mind seeing the old ones, to see how they've worn etc).
I've also got some re-designed aluminium version camber plates that should be ready late next week........
Cheers Andy

Dave...l ran 240z inserts in my ute. From memory (and its hazy coz l can't find the paper l worked it out on), l cut about 70mm off.
My car was fairly low, and it gave really good suspension travel in both directions. I also ran kyb inserts. I think that price isn't too bad either (can't remember what l paid, but l've got the email somewhere!!)

Hey guys, just to add my 2 cents. I have done all of this stuff, shaved door handles, locks, fuel filler, tailgate, hood squirters, aerial etc etc.....
The fuel filler is easy, just weld it up, then make a braket that sits inside the tub, which holds the steel filler neck. shorter the rubber hose, cut a hole in the tub, and done....just make sure you have holes etc in the tub for fuel to escape.....
Oh yeah, in vic at least, you do not need to have door locks or handles. Only a mechanical means of opening the door from the outside (like phunk said)....yes l've confirmed this with an engineer and he's approving my next project with this mod.
Cheers Andy

If you want to see what mine look like, here's the original thread. http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... c_id=23484&forum=2#129353Really, there's not much to them, but you need to make sure that the load path is able to support the entire body/suspension in worst case. If you want to know more, pm or email me. Cheers Andy

Thought l'd throw in my 2 cents..... You 'can' make them similar to those pictures with a steel frame, then cut a sheet to size and stick it on (its what l did), the problem is that the ute tray is NOT flat! It curves in side view (drops down at the rear) and on mine also was higher in the middle than either side. I used 6mm steel rods to help raise the sheet where necessary and give the smooth curve. It has to be the cheapest way, with around $80 in steel tube, $50 sheet and $50 hinges and sikaflex. Struts can be expensive, and finding suitable ones even harder...... Also best to use something like a fairlane boot latch, which can run both mechanical and electrical release, so no need to external key locks..... Anyway, check out my album for some bad pics......... http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/viewcat.php?cid=106or go to my photobucket for some more: http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n27/andos1600/
