Selling a 16 month old A14 with receipts for recent clutch, radiator, carby and starter. Also has recent water pump and good battery. Daily runner, still attached to 84 Vanette.

PM if interested. Make an offer for the lot.

Greg.

It's the standard low ratio diff all the vanetts have, ratio = 4.?. The motor is an A14 block with an A12 head. Nothing special except this combination has quite a high compression ratio, 225 psi, so runs best on 98 octane fuel, also has hardened valve seats so runs on ULP.

Engine is a HM GEM (fitted Jan 06) with new starter, carbie, water pump, radiator & clutch. All receipts including 1st & 2nd Service. It's due for 3rd but oil is still like honey.

Gearbox is from a 120Y and seems fine.

Has been daily driver, no thrashing.

Have you considered gripping a 4" vice onto that nut and turning the vice with something really big? You could drill your own hole (so to speak) and bog it up later or do what I would probably do... drive the thing into the ground then replace the gearbox.

What's common between 1342 and 1234 is the 3&4 so maybe 1&2 are wrong, but you say 1 is TDC on the compression stroke. Are you sure? Love to see a photo, even better, a movie. You would need to have a different crank & cam shaft to all others.

Keith, the indicator switck only provides power to a small square box called a relay. The relay is a remotely controlled swich which closes the contacts to switch the power to all the indicaror lights. If all the indicators on one side are crook , it could be the relay, if only one or two indicator lights don't work but one still does then check the bulbs.

My daily ride is a Datsun C20 Van, it has an A14 with an A12 head on it! Makes for great compression. I've had this one for 11 years and I had a High Top with truck mirrors and mags for 7 years b4 that with an A15 in it. 18 years of Datsun Vans has been a fun & reliable ride.

Long live the Datsun!
