hi folks im new to the a series datsuns and ive just got a hold of a 76 1200 ute and spare sedan.

after some searching ive found some similarities to the a14/a15 and the e15 bottom ends, and it seems pretty possible to use a mix of the bottom ends for a pretty tough forced induction setup.

the e15 crank is said to be able to be machined to fit a series block,im wondering if it can be made to fit the a series cam chain drive or if it can only keep the belt drive and run the e15t head/cam etc

it seems the short rods and strong crank and dished 76mm pistons would make a good start for a low comp ratio.

or maybe just e15t pistons with a machined crown would work in the standard a15 bottom end?
otherwise its probably easier to just bolt the e15t motor in complete, with the dissy mod and bellhousing bolt modded?

i know it would be easier to ca or sr the ute,but id rather something different and the e15t motors are sitting at a mates place.

any info appreciated thanks S.F

hi scotty01
i think the cost is really up to you.if you want a cheap and quick way to turbo it buy a cheap late model turbo t25 or t28 eg and blow through a 32/36 weber and use a malpassi reg and boost retard on the dissy timing. thats basically what im looking at trying except im probably going to put new duralites with lower comp ratio and a decent portjob/cam etc and maybe try holley 350 carb.this setup worked well on 2 litre escort and was quick and reliable and drove fine for months.
