Well hello again, seems like the induction is good, vacuum advance is good everythings good alt light......regulator maybe,,,,,,,hmm get the voltmeter out,,,,,,see how many volts you're getting with the motor off , then start up the car and see how many volts there is...if its below 13 its not enough charge.... but if its above 13 volts its charging,,, if its over 15 then the battery is overcharging and shortens the life of the battery dramatically. Theres the theory anyways....and its normal on a lot of cars to give the engine a rev to get rid of the alt light.....its to kick the regulator on by increasing the voltage (revs). Voltage regulators don't usually work when its below 13 volts,,,,when it gets between 13 and say 16 volts then the regulator works and turns off the alt light. Anyways I know I talk to much, but heres the theory anyway. Oh and if the battery is below 12 volts....then you need to get a new battery. lol

I thought about the guidelines but then I alone can't set guide lines, would be good if Harry (L18_B110) was here coz he knows what the guidelines are in Sprints and and Circuit Racing, (I have seen him race he's not bad at all...hehehe ) anyways, I was thinking of Improved Production Class in the Under 2 litre, the motor has be the same make as the vehicle eg... Datsun and Nissan from A12 to A15, L16 to L20, Z18, CA18, FJ20 and SR20 and it can be turbocharged but then you are up against the sixes and V8 brigades, it doesn't matter however. No matter what class we pick its still a challenge.

Hi
I thought I would start this Topic in the interest and our search and debate as what a Perfect 1200 Race car would require in todays standards. This will be interesting, please don't hesitate in exposing your opinion as it requires all of our involment, its a bit like a meeting of engineers debating and experimenting as to why such mods must take place and costs must be reasonable we can't just wack on aftermarket brakes worth $5000 and so on we have to keep it realistic ....and simple.
We must maintain the mods on a DIY level.
Although any machining or changes on specialised areas or parts will be left for debate.

The aim of satisfying Datsun 1200 Fans and Custumers is also beneficial.

I would also like to hand over the honor of Chairman to Danielblues to regulate the debate. If its OK unless he would like to hand it over to suitable parties???

OK Our base car is the Datsun 1200 Coupe
its completely Standard with an A12 engine, 4spd gearbox. Standard front Disc brakes and standard diff with rear drums.
The interior is fitted out as per Factory.
What Action is to be taken first??

That is if we are going to have a go?? I am just curious.

1st Check for air leaks in the Booster, Inlet Manifold and Carby, also check the Distibutor that the vacuum advance is working. Check for any broken gaskets or hoses that lead from the carby or Inlet manifold... When all are fixed then you can tune it properly.
See the only leak your allowed to have is through the Butterfly valve and any air coming from anwhere else is bad news, it means your car will run out of tune.

Sorry about taking long to respond,,,,, I have ecactly the same thing except I machined the Master cylinders bolting lugs off and pressed a new plate onto the cylinder with the bolt holes matched to the two studs on the firewall ....that way it is further away from the booster.
The cetre of the clutch master cylinder is around 10mm to the passenger side in relation to the two studs.

About those four spot calipers, They're a Sumitomo 4 Spot Caliper frim either four wheel or 2 wheel drive....they bolt straight onto a Stanza or 200B or Bluebird Strut no mods....I think it depends on the disc rotor.

I have Toyota Tarago discs with these calipers on my Stanza Strut.

I bought my half cut from Adelaide, I got the SR20 for $2500 and included delivery I was extremely lucky, It was delivered to Brisbane and I had to pick it up at a depot. Have you tried the Parts Peddler and Zoom magazines from the Newsagency????
