I agree w/ ddgonzal, a blown head gasket will push water out of system and still not put any in the oil. A pressure check of your cooling system will tell alot. also if this is the problem, be sure to remove the spark plugs befor trying to start the veh. cuz' you can bend a rod with hydrolock if the cylinder gets full of water.

Ihave used a Pertronix electronic ignition, it's less than a hundred dollars (USD) and you'll never change points again. well worth the money, and uses a standard 3 ohm coil. as for perfomance, not a noticable gain, unless pionts were worn, but consistant at higher RPM's ( no point bounce )

you might want to try roadster front spring for the rear of your car, we used them on a 510 rally car and worked good. not sure if they are the same size, but alot of datsun parts are interchangeable. also don't know how plentiful roadsters are in your country...Quote: Rallytwit wrote: If the rears are coil take one out and run down to the breakers and see if the Z car spring fits.....it wouldn't surprise me if it does. For camber the competition prep manual for the 1200 shows simply elongating the holes in the strut tower. If rules allow you to add metal on the top off the strut tower you could do that as a cheap way of getting camber.

You are talking about intake ports? Chances are you have an A14 head, which is oval port, but you should be able to trim the gasket to fit your intake ports. If you feel it to be too thin use an A14 mani gasket. probably available by itself...

I'm not to sure about the mounting points, but the trans. will not fit to KA motor. what about an L20B engine? they should be fairly plentiful, and no problem with the tranny. But a KA24 would really move! If you can get the whole harness and trans., it would fit tunnel and only need minor mods to crossmember for trans.

you may want to take a look at the hoses going to the tubes that run the length of the car, as they crack sometimes. usually above the tank,(if under the car) or under the tank(if inside). if the fuel leaked the whole way home, chances are it's not the vent tube... hope this helps!

the 60L is an overdrive unit, as I have that year box in my 65 fairlady. got it out of a 79 210 wagon (B310). my 76 B210 has the 60A box and it is 1:1 in 5th gear. Quote: ddgonzal wrote: Also, the 1971-1973 "GX" 5-speed had 1:1 5-fifth gear (also available from Nissan competition). The 60L was in the 78-79 B310, but I've never ever seen one. Every 5-speed I've seen was overdrive.

hey people, perhaps I should give more info... this "swap" is for my '65 Fairlady Roadster, w\ ammeter in the dash. A somewhat common problem with old "toadsters" is the gauge will fuse together, with no broken or shorted wires, and F"ing smoke the whole system! the gauge itself is the weakest link, bye-bye. can I just join the 2 wires with a 30 to 60? amp fuse? I think that's safer than relying on the gauge... fuses are cheap! thanx all for your input
