It would defintely weaken the block! That I believe is refered to as a "wet" sleeve, and the A-block was not designed to be sleeved like that. I had to sleeve a block once, but nothing as thick as those!! the coolant runs in those gaps, whereas the A-block has passages.

A flywheel for the A-12 will work with several transmissions, 56a, 60a, 60l... more than likely, the 56a box was bolted to a 1200 motor anyway...

Don't forget your crossmember, and mount. A slight difference in shaft angles will make vibrations and wear out u-joints quick! Use an Angle finder on flange of diff. and back of installed trans., and make them the same!!! sounds like you have all the rest of parts, by the way, is the 75 still cable actuated clutch? My 76 is hydraulic (in USA).

i believe it's a rubber band motor, Timing belt not chain, and the deck height is taller for ca20 than a ca18, the tooth count would be a problem, like L16 L20b, different chain...

my veery 1st car was a 1962 L320 p.u.(separate bed) Imanaged to squezze in an A14 w\ 4speed on the floor, had to modify oil pan for steering link, not too bad tho. it has tosion bar susp. I don't think an L engine would fit without some "metal" work, but the A motor really woke that truck up! it is a very small engine compartment, but you can put a V-8 in , if you really wanted to...
